Excellent book! Extraordinary topic about a teenage boy with CP who has no voluntary muscle control. He's self-educated in many things; thinks his father is going to kill him because of the apparent vegetative state the boy is in. A fascinating, quick read. Fformer Middle School students borrow it and pass it around. I recommend it to upper Middle School students, too. I've had to order at least 3 copies now, because they wander off. That means they are being read, and I'll order whenever I have to.
I loved this book from beginning to end. What a wonderful surprise to be able to attempt to understand what an individual who is unable to communicate with others might feel inside. It makes ASSUMING INTELLECT in all people be such a very important philosophy. I bought several copies to give to coworkers. I work with kids with autism and the lessons are universal.
This has been a journey into a subject many people perfer not to take. I have taken a new look at my disabled son.
