I fried my Steinberg Ci2 and had to find another interface. What I gained with the Steinberg 242 is mostly that both microphone TRS inputs have phantom power (true only for on of the two with the Ci2), and that the 242 has it's own power chord rather than getting power through the PC via the same USB cable that all the music data also has to pass through. It may just be my imagination but it seems like that results in a cleaner music signal. Also I found I never really used the remote start stuff on the Ci2 because it just seemed to add a layer of complexity / one more thing to have to mess with so I prefer the rugged, straight-forward simplicity of the 242.
