I purchased this textbook for an undergraduate honors course in statistics, but it is also frequently used at the graduate level. That being said, it tends to be heavy on the analytical/theoretical side and less heavy on the math/calculations side. I don't have any calculus background, and I still found the calculations in this textbook to be easy to understand. If you want a book that takes you step-by-step through the major statistical calculations and procedures you will want to look elsewhere, but if you are interested in understanding the "why" of statistics and the more theoretical and analytical sides of statistics then this is a great textbook. Another plus of the book is the use of famous, real-life statistical data, such as Galton's study of fathers' and sons' heights and the Polio studies of the early twentieth century. This lends an air of realism to the otherwise heavily theoretical tenants of the book.Read full review
The book was in a good state and arrived in a timely manner. Exactly what I needed for class, at a cheaper price than my university bookstore.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
I was very hesitant about purchasing the international version of this text book, especially because my professor told the class up front we would need the book for homework, etc. But considering the international version was $30 brand new compared to over $100 for the US text book, I took the chance. SO glad I did. This int'l version is EXACTLY the same as the US text, just in paperback instead of hardback. It was brand new, great copy, all images and page numbers are exactly the same. Save yourself some money and purchase the int'l version of this text book!
I bought this book because I am enrolled in statistics course and I like the soft cover page which reduces the heavy load and helps for easy carrying unlike the hard cover. It is convienient easy to understand and I will encourage students to buy this book. I checked on the reviews and ratings of other students and that helped me to make up my mind irrespective of my friends warning not to buy it and now I am the one that laughs loud.
I have never purchased an international textbook before, but I am so glad I did. The information/page numbers are exactly the same as the US version textbook. The US version was over $140 which is ridiculous considering this isn't even a class relevant to my major, so this is an extremely good deal.
