This is my 3rd W580i. First one was stolen,2nd was lost in a fire, and I've been miserable without my MUSIC! Who needs a Pod thingy when with this little darlin'I can walk my dog, listen to my music, easy to do with SONY'S Software,I have a 2GB & 4GB Memory Sticks and that's a LOT of music!,or I can listen to the FM radio if I want to.That's it, EASY & CHOICES! All the while if a call comes it does just that! No fumbling around to switch devices, and it's an extra sweet option that I can voice dial a friend just by clicking the headset button and saying their name. Basically, you can walk, talk, & chew gum with a "soundtrack" for your life!;- Oh! Almost forgot, takes great photos too & easy to download as well. I have no desire for any of these new touch screen & the newer more complicated cell phones out there*, this is my sweetie. *That is unless SONY wants to give me one as easy and same features of a new style of theirs! ;- Read full review
I bought this product as a gift for my mom. She has had 3 of them over the years, and she doesn't want any other phone now, and now I want one too! It is very simple to use, it is small and compact, it is very sturdy, and it has a long battery life (easily 8 hours). What my mom likes about it the most is its fitness features. It has a built-in pedometer that you can calibrate to your own body specifications (such as height, weight, age, and stride length). It also has the Walkman 2 music player, with customizable equalizer and playlist features. Of course, it has all the basics, like speakerphone for convenience in calls during busy times when you can't hold your phone up to your ear, T9 predictive text for fast text messaging, customizable ringtones so you know who's calling before you pull your phone out of your pocket, you name it. The only potential problem is the fact that it is an old phone model, and so it only supports EDGE at best, not 3G or 4G. If there was just an updated version of this phone with 4G or even 3G, my mom would have it, and I probably would as well. I might get one even if they don't come out with an update.Read full review
I don't know if this particular phone was just not good or if these phones that have the 'W' mark instead of the att mark on the front are cheap copies. We have bought three with the att mark and they work great....very nice phone- good features. This one we bought with the 'w' mark on it however...was lightweight, camera did not work, could not send picture messages, headset would not stay plugged in...basically a horrible phone. My advice...buy the one with the att mark :)
The worst thing about this phone is the earphone jack, it does clip into the phone and keeps poping out so there goes listening to the radio. I never got to use the walk man feature to download and listen to my music b/c you have to buy extra memory for that. The coolest thing about this phone is the pedometer. This phone started acting up after just one year with dropping calls and poor reception. will not buy another Sony again
I brought it for my friend, she said it's useful and worthful.her only complaint is that the menu system on the phone makes you click four times before you can find someone in the address book, set an alarm, or perform a additional functions. Other phones I've owned have simpler menus and get you to important features easily. Overall, I'd recommend the phone if you're on a budget.
