My Sony 575 started at my store where it played movies (on repeat) all day long. This lasted from 1999 through 2005 at which point I took it home. It worked for me perfectly at home where I used it in S video mode through 2016 when it finally "gave up the ghost". I'm sure the issue was the motor that spun the disk. It was spinning too slowly for the laser to read. I couldn't find a replacement motor and was forced to get a new DVD player. The Sony gave my 17 years of service...it was a beast! My replacement...another Sony 575!

I have been using Sony electronic products for about 38 years now. The DVP-NS57P DVD player is another in a long line of Sony products combining excellent design, easy to use controls, and outstanding performance. I have not found a disc that it will not play as long as the disc is in good shape (not excessively dirty or scratched) and, if it has been burned on a computer or DVD recorder, that it has been appropriately "finished." Having read reviews of other Sony DVD players complaining of poor picture, color, etc., I can only assume that the individuals writing these reviews have not used the right cables or have not adjusted their TV is properly. With a Sony DVD player and a good, well-adjusted TV, you are assured of a satisfying video experience every time.
I had no idea it would be brand new! I got a brand new DVD player for a used DVD player price. It's ultra thin and barely takes up any space on my entertainment stand. It's so easy to use that my 5 year old can put his own movies in and watch them. It's actually alot sleeker looking in real life than in the picture. I LOVE IT!!!
This is my fourth Sony DVD player. Three of them I still use regularly. The oldest one finally bit the dust after ten years. They are all very similar with the Sony Precision Drive 3 system. They play almost every disc I throw at them. I bought this unit as it is inexpensive and gets the job done. I use it with my Sanyo lcd projector. The progressive scan looks so much better than an interlaced picture. I play through the component video outs and get a great picture with great color. This unit also has enough buttons on the unit that I don't have to reach for the remote when I am running audio-visuals at my church. All in all it is dependable, simple and gives you a great picture for the money.
Excelent Item. Has a lots of nice features as: - Progressive-scan video output renders seamless, flicker-free images on high-definition and HD-ready TVs - Precision Drive 3 improves readability of damaged discs - 12-bit video DAC with 54 MHz processing for pristine video (through component-video, S-video, and composite-video outputs) - Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel digital surround decoding and output (for use with compatible AV receivers and speaker systems) - Single-disc DVD player with support for DVD-Video, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-VR, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 CD, and JPEG image CD NEVER had any problem with this Sony DVD Player.
