I have an older Cannon that uses 4 AA batteries, it's heavy. This Sony is so light it fits in a shirt pocket and I forget it's there. It has lots of features that one can access digitally, the Cannon has a dial that has to be pre-set. Only drawback is that the On/Off switch is slightly recessed and is a bit difficult to operate, the shutter control must be pressed in just the right way or it will not work. I placed a small piece of plastic on the shutter control to raise the surface and that has been a big help. The pictures, both still and video, are excellent. Suggestions: Get a piece of special plastic to cover the screen and protect it from scratches. Also only use the official Sony battery!
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W330 is a quick and good camera for stationary objects. The power on to first shot time is 1.8 seconds. The shot-to-shot time is 2.6 seconds and 3.6 seconds with flash. The continuous shooting speed is 1.1fps (frames per second). The shutter lag is 0.4 second for bright light and 0.7 second in dim light. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W330 delivers passable photo quality; however, still it depends upon your choice. At all ISO levels, the graininess and noise is visible while viewing the images at full size. The photo quality is good at ISO 200. However, there is a loss in fine details and definition lacks at higher ISO levels. The photos are usable in small sizes up to ISO 800. The colors are shifting with combined noise and its reduction on high ISO levels that result in poor photo quality. ISO 1600 or 3200 will give you really poor quality photos. The images captured by 14-megapixel camera cannot be cropped too much for large printouts. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W330 delivers soft images that has lacks in fine detail while viewing at full size. The digital camera can create 45×60 inches photographs; still Sony recommends print outs up to 13×19 inches. Sony keeps barrel distortion in check for wide-angle lens. There is no pin-cushioning even at fully extended lens. However, there is passable amount of purple fringe but that is not unexpected in cameras of this class. The center sharpness is relatively good on Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W330, but subjects on the side corners are visibly softer.Read full review
Very nice easy to use camera. Very small and thin. Very responsive zoom lens, Nice sized display with good resolution. Good battery life. If you are a novice you can let the camera do the job for you, or if you are experienced you have many settings at your disposal. I would like to note again that it is very small, possibly too small for some to handle. With that said I would recommend this camera.

I really like this camera. It has great quality pictures, the interface is very user friendly and easy to use, and the screen is pretty big so it's easy to see what's being captured. I love the smile detection technology in the camera and it manages to get great pictures almost every time. If you are trying to take someone's picture that doesn't really like to smile, this camera can definitely capture the moment that they do smile. It's also great for scenic pictures too. It does have a video camera, but it's main purpose is to take pictures. The only downside to taking videos is that you cannot zoom. The battery life is pretty good and it uses memory cards in SD or the Pro Duo kind as well i believe. If you are looking for a great digital camera, you won't be dissapointed.
What i love so much about the camera is the auto light and focus on it. Never again will u take bad pic's with this camera, it controls the focus on it and if the camera needs a flash cause the room is to dark or too much light the camera will adjust for a clear pic. I brought this camera cause i owned a cyber-shot but the camera was a 7.2 pixels camera. I would have a to say its a must have item. I cant compare this item to any other cause like i said, I've only owned a Sony cyber-shot camera.
