Installed this radio in my 96 ranger. Tuner is superior to the stock radio tuner. Because it plays WMA format files, you can put a huge amount of music on one disk (11 hours) and still have great sound. Unit has plenty of power for the stock speakers. Only downside is the small display. This unit is a few years old buy plays fine. I expect it to give good service for years to come.
I have had Sony stereo's before, and I like them, but I love Pioneer. I used this Sony until I could replace my Pioneer, but after using the GT200, then installing another Pioneer DEH-P4800MP, I think I will put the Sony CDX-GT200 back in, it just sounds better to me. Not having the manual or remote made getting everything set a pain, but once I figure it out, it sounds and works great. So yes this Sony is better, in my opinion, though the Pioneer is a far better looking unit.
This unit the cdx-gt200 works perfectly with a cdx-gt100 base unit. My face plate died on my cdx-gt100 and I was able to easily use the gt200 face plate without having to install the entire unit.
