This book is wonderful! I was born in 1950 and mainly have my childhood dolls so this book is perfect. I finally have the makers and names of two slender 8 inch fashion dolls I love and played with along with my little Miss Revlon. Of course I also have Ginny & Ginnette & Tiny Tears & more. I've found some info about these dolls in magazines and other books but this one is the best for my collection. About the book itself, there are lots of good photos and a helpful index. The book is in excellent condition - like new - and the price was very reasonable. Supporting a Goodwill program when buying this is another positive factor.
I bought this book because other doll people had rated it 5 stars. It covers all the small dolls of the '50. It is some times hard to tell one doll from another, this author does a good job detailing the dolls and their clothing. This book is very popular. The orginal cost in 2002 was $29.90. Today a used book goes for over $50 on varies online sites. When I bought my book the dealer had a 10% off sale. The book is like new. I am very happy with it.
I have a large doll book collection. This book gets used almost daily by me. Soon you'll learn the difference in a dress made by Vogue, Virga, Nancy Ann, Fortune, Cosmopolitan and many others and the doll that wore them. If a seller states the doll is a Vogue Ginny doll but is unmarked, you'll know that ALL Ginny dolls by Vogue are marked and learn to tell that, in fact, the doll is a Virga or a Muffie or a Pam or a Ginger! Great book. I highly recommend. Longtime Ginny Collector
This is one of the best books I have on the smaller dolls. It gives an excellent detail of some of the lesser known dolls. It really has helped me in the identification of some of the unmarked dolls. There are good books on Ginny and some of the other marked dolls, but this one really does justice to these other cuties that we love to collect. If you like the smaller dolls, this is the book for you. Thanks, Carol Stover for this book.
I bought this book so I could distinguish between the many unmarked 8 inch dolls I have started collecting because of limited space. It is a beautiful hard-back book with much information on these dolls. I especially like the full-color pictures of the various dolls and their outfits. It is well written and very interesting. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in these sweet little dolls
