This device will work on tabletsphones as long as you can utilize Slingboxes overpriced ($15 in the apple app store) app. On mobile devices, you cannot view content in high quality since this is not the Pro "HQ" sling box (this has an HDMI port, but is not the "HQ" model). On the standard quality view, you can make out everything but small writing (thing scores in a soccer or football match) You can view HQ video from the Windows application or from the slingbox web app and that looks great.
While it's a bit tricky to setup and you first have to install their software on a PC to do that it works pretty well once you get it configured. You can access it locally on a PC or remotely on a phone or tablet once you create an account on the Sling website. However the video is TERRIBLE! The unit seems to be intended to make it possible to watch cable or satellite channels when away from home but I can't see anyone putting up with the low res picture in order to do that. They don't give the specs but I've seen some reviews that say it's 640X480 however it looks so bad I think it's closer to 240X200. It's good enough to see my security cameras though which is all I wanted to use it for.
This model of Slingbox cannot connect to my network. I suspect it is no longer supported by the company.

This is the first product of this kind I purchase and I am very happy with it. I am out of the country several months a year and I wanted access to my local cable/TV to follow local news and tv shows. Excellent product, works as expected, I can see my TV anywhere now.
