I have been using this lens for about a year and it works great. It is multipurpose use and I don't have to carry extra lenses to do different types of shots. I mainly do wedding photography and it takes great portrait and group photos without having to use an additional lens. photos are very sharp and colors are great. I should have bought this lens years ago, now I know its better than my old ones. It shortens my Photoshop touchup time.

Based on limited use so far, the Sigma lens is excellent. Nice and sharp, clear pictures. Handy for general usage since its focal range helps you not to have to change lenses frequently. Smaller than some comparable lenses it is lighter and less bulky yet retains the quality Sigma is known to give. I bought it mainly to use as a travel lens on my Canon.

On the plus side it has a nice range 18-250, the Nikon 18-200 seems to stop short. I have one of each. There is no coloration differences that I notice between Nikon and Sigma There is very little image differences sharpness, distortion, etc. The price with the new Nikon this was almost $200 less On the negative The optical stabilization on the Sigma makes makes the image jump as it comes back to life. When using the lens if you have not auto-focused (activated the mechanism) then the optical stabilization goes to sleep (powers down)and when you compose the image the OS activates and changes the composition. This is NOT a problem but can be an irritation when doing sports. The Nikon does not do this I am not sure why. I like the lens, but if I do any more sports I may sell it and buy the Nikon. I have been a photographer for 40 + years but I am not a tester and do not do actual resolution tests, but I do understand the errors that can be in any lens.Read full review
Lens seems great. I love the zoom length and the quiet autofocus. The lens hood also is a nice inclusion which will save money in the long run and poor pictures in the long run. So far the pictures all look great. As an amateur photographer, the slight distortion and picture quality problems that are discussed in many of the reviews are unnoticeable to me. What is keeping me from giving this lens an excellent is the autofocus. Although quicker than the kit lens, the focus is somewhat indecisive and not quite up to the speed of Canon's USM focusing. But for the picture quality and price, this lens is totally worth it for someone who likes photography as a hobby.
An excellent lens with loads of potential. You will not regret it at all. I've been using it for two months now and didn't want to look back for my other lenses. Using this on a Canon EOS M with adapter and it takes wonderfully sharp photos. You will be amazed by the quality you get for the price you pay. Macro feature is a welcoming add together with a great zoom range. However the highest zoom is rather 230 mm (I compared with 55-250 mm system and Sigma didn't zoom that far.) But that's not a big issue especially given the sharpness you get even at the highest zoom level. Build quality is great (with a significant weight added) and image stabilization works really good. However it produces little sound (not as quiet as STM but quieter than regular zoom lenses). Comes with the hood (unlike canon lenses) which is nice.Read full review
