Having started a small home studio, I found in a shop in Geneva a second hand MD 21U and decided I would try it on a stereo tape recorder with two REC jacks, one for each channel, therefore requiring a second mike to balance sound. Haven't tried both for a careful recording , but just one proved these things are unbelievably good. Looking for vintage equipment, this is the type of stuff that I enjoy...I also work with modern Sure 58 SM, but can't wait to try it all together. I will therefore be back for another comment.
The name says it all. SENNHEISER period. You will need an adaptor cord, to adapt it to an XLR cord, but that's about it. The MD21 is at home where ever you choose to use it. Whether it's as a vocal mic, an instrument mic, or a drum mic. The MD21 won't dissapoint you one bit. Don't let it's small size fool you, this little mic has some big sound in it. And it's unidirectional, so what you point it at, is what you amplify. You don't get the drum set bleeding through if you use it to mic the guitar amp, like you do with a omnidirectional mic. You want Vintage sound ? Use Vintage equipment.
