Got this gen1 orange monster off eBay 8 days ago. Have worn it 24/7 since. It’s keeping great time, gaining about 1-2 secs. a day right now after initially losing the same for several days. Love being able to read it all night. Love its in-your-face brashness & it’s bold declaration of toughness, & rough-&-ready-ness, combined with its individuality & a certain classiness. Have had other Seiko’s & they’ve all been good to me, so was predisposed to stick with the brand. Heard & saw a number of expert watch reviewers on you-tube raving about all the Seiko Monsters. Have just purchased gen2 Orange Monster partly for its “shark teeth” hour indices & for its other improvements over gen1. Bidding on a gen3 [Navy] Blue Monster. You could say I’ve been bitten by the Monster bug!! Gen 1 will probably be my everyday Monster, but time will tell ( pun intended!) I love this thing & look forward to it joining its 2nd & 3rd gen. relatives in our little Monster family.Oh, and it makes a great sound when you hold it tightly up against your ear .Read full review

While not quite vintage yet the Seiko 'monster' is quickly headed towards iconic status in the very competitive world of vintage watch collecting fanatics. Very few other dives could one list off hand that meet the criteria for dependability, ruggedness and unique captivating styling that makes it stand out and alone as one of Seikos masterpieces of mass marketed dive watches The 7s26 is definitely a workhorse movement where superior accuracy is not a guarantee but it by no means difficult to achieve. Mine now currently runs at approx.. +2 sec. pr. day. So, not to bad. The style is usually either a love or hate type connection to potential buyer. I started out disliking its garish and severe lines. Not sure what happened-I might have seen one in the 'wild' and it set off an alarm. I was able to acquire a brand new one for well below msrp (as should anybody) and it is simply the most unique, dependable, rugged and fun dive watch I have ever owned. Like another review above-its often my 'go to' watch especially in spring and summer. And for this much dive watch at <$300 I just can't say enough. Read full review

The Orange Monster, an iconic diver might be a little too bright for an everyday watch. But because It is confortable and accurate (30 seconds faster per day) it just fits the bill. Great watch overall.

There is nothing bad that I can say about this watch...I can say alot of good things , like good looks, keeps good time, durable, feels great on,I get alot of complements,I scuba and snorkle alot and its vary visable underwater,I love the crystal lens, this is the second one that I bought,I got the black one about a year ago and its just as nice....!!!!! Seth.
Late to the Monster game, too bad for me....this watch is awesome! Never thought I’d really buy an orange dial, but it’s very striking, easy to read, and stylish. Also bought a shrouded Monster (Baby Tuna SRP637) which is equally sweet.
