I was quickly using up computer space on my hard drive -- especially because of videos I have downloaded from my digital camera. So I researched the cheapest, easiest way to add storage space to my computer -- including flash memory and external memory. The cheapest way turned out installing another hard drive. The wires are already there in the computer. All you need do is plug the device in and let the unit "find" it. Since my computer CPU has an extra space for internal memory, I elected for a used drive identical but larger than the drive already installed to increase my memory from 100GB to 250GB. I bought a used 150GB drive identical to the one in my computer and installed it as a slave drive. The cost was less than $25. And that included postage. A new drive would have been $75-$125. My computer only cost $280 new. Would it have been worth the investment of new parts? It may only last a couple of years. It was still worth the $25 investment. Now I am not limited by memory on my computer. And guess what. I'm using it right now to type this assessment. I did the same thing just a couple of years ago with my RAM memory. I increased it from .5MB to 1.5MB. (I left the .5MB board in.) The slot was already there. Why not use it when your machine needs upgrading? I've been using the machine for four years. By shopping on E-bay, the cost difference is tremendous -- even over chain discount stores. E-bay offers excellent deals. I usually just "buy it now". That way I get exactly what I want when I want it. And you only end up spending a little more in the long run.Read full review
I originally had a Seagate Barracuda hard drive installed, (came with my Dell Desktop, and was the same make) which crashed in just over a year of use, even with a surge protector. I bought a new one which is now working fine, but I do not know how long it will last (been less than a year). It's size and speed are very good, though.
I had a Seagate Barracuda 160 GB in my pc before, but something happened to it to make it fail. So, when I found this one, I was happy to be able to purchase it. The hard drive is easy to install and format. It runs fast and holds all of my primary programs such as the OS and Microsoft Office.
A quiet and fast spinning hard drive. This Seagate 160gb can handle all my work I throw at it. I am a programmer and do a lot of writing and need a reliable hard drive. Seagate has given me one. Also as an avid movie and music connoisseur I am glad to the 160gb space.
This hard drive is fast and quiet. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another if needed. This HDD was purchased to refurbish a Gateway desktop and functions well. I have not had any problems with this HDD and would guess that it's the equal to any other similar drive from another maker.
