Sauder Woodworking, known more for creating functional furniture than for beautiful pieces, really nailed this piece. It is well-constructed and reinforced; it took us a whole afternoon to assemble. The one problem I have, and I have shared this with Saider engineers, is the decision to use screws and a groove to connect decorative columns when wood pegs would have served the purpose. The screws in this step are hard to reach and torque, and two or three pegs, optional carpenter's glue to reinforce and a few taps of a mallet would have accomplished what took me most of an hour to complete.

Cheaply made. Lift top mechanism leaves a lot to be desired. Finish on table is easily damaged.
