I think this is the best "cheap" phone you'll find that can work with Tello (check the ESN number on Tello's web site to be sure), and is free of the great Google God. It's pretty fancy for a flipper, and quite snappy and easy to navigate. It lacks a QWERTY keypad, and WiFi, so if you need those features you'd better look elsewhere. You can get pretty good at typing on a numeric keypad with practice. I also should note, if you have a 64 bit computer, you won't be able to trade files (wallpaper, pics, contacts, etc.) with it, even if you get the special USB adapter from Gomadic. The driver for it is Windows XP 32-bit, and you also need an open source program called Bitpim. I was able to boot my computer into mini-XPx32 with Horem's boot disk, then use the 32 bit driver, the special adapter, and Bitpim to trade files. Quite a hassle, unless you like tinkering with that sort of thing. Otherwise, you can just use the the MM-8300 as a fancy flip phone (plus flashlight!). It's CUT OFF from the rest of the world! The only alternative to the MM-8300 is the Alcatel Go Flip phone. It has a very similar feature set (but no flashlight ;-( ), much easier file syncing with a standard USB cord, and it even has WiFi. I don't THINK Google can spy on you yet, with the Go Flip. Sadly, there are many complaints about the sluggish performance and quirky memory handling of KaiOS 1.0, which CAN NOT be updated on that phone. So there you have it. If you want a cool looking, "smart" flip phone, with a snappy, efficient feel, works with Tello, and no Google spies lurking round every corner, look no further than a used MM-8300 from one of these ol' time old-tech sellers.Read full review

This is a great phone with an easy menu system and good features. Be prepared to buy a cable for $20 to up/download photos, ringtones, contacts, etc. if you don't want to subscribe to Sprint data services. Use free BitPim to handle data transfers across the cable or buy a possibly more capable program (BitPim has its limitations). The camera is easy to use, but so far I haven't been able to find a player for the videos I've downloaded from the phone. There are some annoying glitches, such as when an alarm sounds with the phone off, and then "phone off" remains on the display even after you turn the phone back on, and there doesn't seem to be any way to delete ringtones you've downloaded via the cable even though the phone seems to accept only four new ones.
Battery stays charged longer than my LG phone. Don't like when scrolling through contacts, for example if you type in L it onlt shows you the contacts names that start with that letter and doesn't let you continue down to the rest of the contacts in the phonebook. (Very minor thing) Takes good pictures, video quality is ok. Changeable part of the face plate is what I like. Dont like how when you set a password for your pictures and videos it only asks for it one time and then you don't need the password anymore to see pictures/videos. It only asks for the picture/video password again if you turn off the phone and turn it back on. It's a great phone. I like how it is compatible with mp4 so I can make my own ringtones and send them to the phone. Overall its the best phone I've had so far.
Great video cartoons. The text messaging aspect is wonderful. klller Movies and Pictures are possible. It's great also because you can record just audio, or just Video, separately. I always watch last Night's Tonight Show Monologue with Jay Leno. It's great to have that saved by the Sprint Network. Voice Mike not good, tho.
I had this phone for about 2 years. Nothing was wrong with it at all! It is a great phone to have and has many capabilities. It also is a vision phone not a POWER vision phone. This basically means it is alot cheaper for any add on through sprint. My new POWER vision phone rates are ridiculous!! On the MM-8300 I payed $5 a month for unlimited txt messaging, unlimited picture mail, and unlimited interent usuage. The MM-8300 runs on a different operating system then then new POWER vision phones. In my opinion its all just to make more money. The POWER vision phones might be a bit faster but deff! not worth it!! On the new sprint POWER vision phones its $15 for unlimited txt messaging, $25 for unlimited internet, and $10 for unlimited picture mail! Its ridiculous! All those add ons add up to almost the price of the MM-8300!. THE MM-8300 IS WORTH THE MONEY AND THE TIME! I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PHONE TO ALL SPRINT USERS! YOU GET THE BEST DEALS WITH IT TOO BECUASE OF THE OLDER OPERATING SYSTEM IT USES! A++++++++ PHONE!Read full review
