I don't buy new phones or new cars. There's always too much profit wrapped into the cost of NEW and I won't sign a long term contract with my cell service just to get the latest and most popular hardware. My wife was using a Motorola Razor but it was having battery life problems - she actually had to swap out charged batteries 2 times a day. This was becoming frustrating for her so I started looking for something different. The Sync is similar to the Razor in size and styling - clamshell, internal antenna, thin design. These were all important to her. I did some searching and found web reviews giving great ratings for the Sync for battery life so I decided to give it a try. Used and refurb'd prices are reasonable so I felt that even if we tried it and didn't like it, we could resell and get most of our money back. The Sync came in and we were pleasantly surprised with the number of advanced features. The MP3 player is a nice benefit although the controls to access it are a little complicated...at least for someone from the technologically challenged over-40 generation. The battery life is excellent compared to the Razor. The screen resolution and colors are beautiful and the camera can take higher resolution photos than my older phones. I liked it enough to find another one to replace my own old LG. My biggest complaint so far seems relatively minor: I've stopped using a wrist watch because of the time feature on cell phones. On my older phones almost all of them had the time constantly visable on the outside screen. On the Sync, the outside screen goes dark after 30 seconds, probably as a battery saving measure but it forces me to have to flip open the phone when I want to check the time. Minor, but a little annoying to have to get used to. Accessories are easily found and inexpensive. It's a very good replacement phone for the money. I am pleased with the upgrade I made with this model.Read full review
I have the same one. Wanted to purchase one for my husband. This phone was brand new, but after a few days, we realized it was defective. We sent it back and they replaced it. The replacement was supposed to be new, but it had a few small scratches on it, and I don't think it was new. We decided to keep it because we didn't want to spend more on return postage or be without for two more weeks. This phone seems to be working just fine. One think I noticed is that after talking for more than a few minutes, the sound seems to get a little muffled or tunnel-like on both of our phones. We don't spend a lot of time on the phone, so this isn't a big problem most of the time. I do wish it was sharper sounding though. The phone is fairly easy to use, and all we use are the basics, no internet or texting. The font is large and easy to read and the buttons light up, which is a plus for older people. Overall, the phone is just fine.Read full review
I bought this phone because my Blackjack kept dropping calls after I upgraded the OS to WM 6. This phone has better reception and everyone I talk to says it is clear as a bell. The battery lasts all day under normal use and the menu system is easy to navigate. The only draw back I have found is the browser. Media net is not very friendly to set up and you can't reorganize the home page to have your preferences at the top. You have to scroll thru they're advertisements before you get to what you want to do. Overall I would recommend this phone to anyone looking for a good quality phone to primarily use for mobile and text.
The Sync is a good phone. Not a great phone by any stretch of the imagination. I bought it for the sync feature. This feature downloads my phone book into my car radio which has bluetooth. Between the phone and my Kenwood radio, I can use the phone entirely handsfree. I am still looking for the phone that has all the features that I want without any small annoyances. The Samsung comes close to having everythind I want but has some annoying features like the front display. I dont wear a watch so I depend on the cell phone to check time. The clock display disappears and the only way to see it again is to open the phone or press the volume button for about three seconds. They dont tell you this is the manual. I found out by trial and error.
Got my first Sync the first week it came out. I am a middle aged lady and the salesman told me about the music and 3G features on the phone. I thought it was ridiculous to put all that stuff on a phone. I like the way it felt in my hand, I could read the characters on the screen, the menu was easy enough to figure out, so i got it anyway. It is the best phone I have ever had, bar none. That was years ago now. Since then I have had a Samsung BlackJack, an HTC Tilt, a Moto Q (POS if u ask me), a LG EnV, a LG Voyager, a LG, a Samsung Blackjack 2, a LG CU515 and a Nokia something (cheapie) and an iPhone. Also, since then I have changed jobs and I now work for a competitor of AT&T, but I still have use AT&T service personally. I have become more educated about wireless devices since getting my first Sync and I am still impressed with it. I do have and use an iPhone daily, which I love. That being said, the Samsung Sync does not have as many belss and whistles as the iPhone, but what it does, it does superbly and it is durable. So why did I need four of them if it durable? That is a fair question. I have 4 grown children, all of whom have AT&T and five grandchildren. Two of my previous Syncs were "borrowed" by one daughter. She lost the first one, which I had replaced mine because she had that one. Then of course, she took my second one. The third one disappeared one night when I was visiting my 4 year old granddaughter. She could not remember where she put it and the ringer was off. Since then, her parents have moved to a new home and did not find it while packing, so there is little hope of finding it ever. That is the biggest problem I have had with the Syncs: people like tham and take them. The same granddaughter took her Mom's iPhone and was playing witrh it in the bathroom. She heard Mommy coming, freaked out and flushed it! Bye bye iPhone. (I know that was irrelavent, but I thought it was funny.) Anyway, they are durable and do what they were made to do very well AND people in their forties and fifties can read the display. So after being without one for a few months, I bought a fourth one and ordered a fifth. I am ready for my offspring next time. hehehehe Great phone, really. Another great phone is the Omnia by Samsung. I dont have one yet, but it is awesome. Of course, I would never trade my iPhone for anything, depite the fact that it is tempermental and can get very slow, I love it and the apps it will run. I frequently have to get my iPhone throughout the day to refer to things I have in it, even to make a call on the home phone. Anyone remember home phones? They have wires running from them to the wall. Anybody? Hello? Read full review
