This phone is a basic, simple phone which is just what I wanted. It's also the toughest cell phone I've ever owned. I've had mine 5 years, maybe 6 and it still works great even though I've dropped it more times than I can count and it's scarred up like an old boxer from being in my shirt pocket when I weld sometimes, and molten metal makes another permanent crater on it. No picture taking ablility, but for someone that just wants a simple, easy to use tough cell phone without all the bells and whistles on it they won't be using anyway, this is the best phone I know of. I just bought this one for my girlfriend because that's exactly what she wanted too. She keeps hitting buttons on her new phone accidentally and losing calls, and they're buttons for functions she doesn't even use. This is a great phone for someone that just wants to stick to the basics or an older person that wants one that's easy to use.Read full review
The Samsung SCH A630 is for people that want a simple clamshell cell phone and little else. There is no Bluetooth, no beeping buttons on the outside, no MP3 player, no camera, and no external caller-id. Battery Life lasts a little less than a week with infrequent use. The Samsung SCH A630 is no longer produced, so the only option is to buy it used. I am buying another SCH A630 for a parental unit since they both like the one they already have. Since the SCH A630 I ordered is used, I was sure to contact Verizon customer support (*611) to be sure the phone's ESN is Free and Clear. Assuming the phone battery is still good, and assuming I am sent the ESN advertised, I'm certain my parents will like the phone once it arrives.
Well, this phone is an excellent phone for people who don't want a lot of bells and whistles in a cell phone. It has great reception for an internal-antenna phone. The only complaint I have about the phone and the reason that I no longer use the phone is that the button are kind of small and I am a pretty large fellow, so my fingers tend to mash more than one button and it gets quite irritating. =) LOL Other than that the phone is a pretty good phone. It has a bright vibrant color display!
Alright, so I got this phone and back then it was actually REALLY cool (now basic), but I got it in 2004 when I was looking for a cell phone, and this was offered free with new renewal, so I got it and loved it. I soon got an LG VX8300 after and the experience from both models, turned good, to excellent- that, that phone wouldn't break. Pros: Tough, I dropped this tons in 2 years, CALLS QUALITY was really good, and I never had a dropped call, whereas I can't say the same with my 8300 or the U340 I owned after the 8300. Cons: Backlight goes out after the battery goes low, I believe it is a measure to save battery power, but really? The color is pretty nice for a basic phone, it is small, portable, and a good overall choice for a phone if you need something basic.
Compact, reliable phone. Holds a charge well. Good reception. If you don't need a camera, internet, etc. on your phone this is an excellent phone. Has a speaker.
