It seems like carrying a 20" in an 18" cymbal. It's dark and lightning quick but, it has a bright wash that helps it cut through. I took it to practice and set it up next to my HHX Evolution crash(which anyone should own!). This created a dramatic and dynamic pairing since the two appear to be polar opposites. The AAX has a dark tone and bright wash to which the HHX is vice versa. Also, the Evolution has more sustain. This array gives me the diversity I need for our style of heavy, groove oriented metal. On the brighter side I can pair it with my Metal-X crash, or all three in the studio. This gives the Dark crash versatility. A great buy!
This cymbal may be misleading to some. The cymbal has a good amount of weight to it. Along with the dark sound, one would expect a less cutting attack. The attack on this is very quick while still maintaining its dark nature. If you like to set up 2+ crashes like I do, match this with an 18" regular crash like an AAX Studio or AAX X-Plosion and a smaller 16" Thin Crash. Playing through jazz, swing, rock, metal, and reggae have all sounded great with this cymbal in my setup. Sabian does it again. Buy this cymbal!
Cymbal was in great shape and love the sound thank you so much!
