The plug-in end had a male component when what I needed was a female. Since I was in need of a working oven and didn't have time to send it back for a correct one, I cut the ends off both this sensor wire and the wire from the range, replaced those with crimp on ends from the hardware store and it worked. Therefore I was frustrated to have to spend the time and the expense, which was more that 50% of the cost of the sensor, in order to make it work.
