The reed arrives stronger than a 2.5. At least a 3.5. After considerable testing and shaving I got a decent reed out of it. The tone is close to a cane in my estimation. If you don't have the time to work on the reed then it's not a good buy. Basically, there's a good reed in there somewhere, you could easily go too far and ruin it but with a little luck and skill get a good working reed. Low register (D and below) is difficult though. For me, considering other synthetic reeds sell for 5 - 10 times more, it's worth going for.

Very difficult to blow. I normally use cane 2.5 and this plastic one feels like a 6.0. Near impossible to play. Hitting bass and altissimo is a no go. Perhaps i should have ordered a 1.0?

I don't know why, but I could not get it to work! I tried many times. Threw it out.
