Purchased the Redcat Everest-10 for my 10-year old son who has been playing with "toy level" RC vehicles for several years. The Everest-10 is more of a "hobby level" machine: more expensive, more complex mechanisms, more tunable, but seems to be repairable with readily available spare parts. It's taken a few tumbles and crashes with no problems so far. It's his first rock crawler type vehicle (more capable than a standard 4x4 truck) and its climbing abilities are amazing. It traverses obstacles that don't seem possible to drive over. It can even partially climb a vertical surface to do a tail stand. Battery life has been better than expected, but we haven't timed exactly how long it lasts. I would not recommend this as someone's first RC machine due to its complexity, but in the hands of someone who is already very familiar with RC vehicles, this is a great buy.Read full review

As a 30 year old mechanic I bought my first REAL R/C and this was it. Lets do a mini review. First off, the build quality is great. You cannot, CANNOT break this thing in stock form. Two reasons for this, first is the amount of aluminum/metal parts and quality of the plastic ones. Secondly, you cant get it fast enough to crash, lol. IT IS a rock crawler so 5mph tops, walking pace. The torque with the stock gearing and HIGH turn motor is insane, it will, WILL climb vertically up a wall until it flips over and have YET to get it stuck in ANYTHING in my yard, debris piles and all. SOO, after a few days owning it, it was hop up time. YES, THERE ARE A TON OF HOP UP PARTS out there, motors, esc's, lipo's, gearing, tires, etc... I put in a 21t pinion and 35t motor, worked great and more than doubled the speed. However, I used a cheaper 35t motor and it didnt play well with the esc, but no biggie, stock motor went back in. Lost a little speed, but still nice. Currently on order is 320A ESC with lipo voltage cut off, 20T stinger motor, 26t pinion and 66t spur, all 48 pitch by the way. Looking to go from slow crawler to 4wd basher using this as the base. To answer future questions, most ANY 1/10 scale hop up parts will fit this, I know for a fact. The gears are all 48 pitch so any gears with that pitch will work with this, just verify the spur has the same mounting holes. STOCK GEARING IS 14T pinion and 86T spur with a 55T 540 size motor. Stock esc will take 2s lipo with external low voltage meter, just spend 15 on an after market esc that takes up to 4s lipo with built in LVM. Also can make this 4 wheel steering with a cheap standard 9kg or more servo as the axles are the same from the rs10 minus the motor on axle plates and rear servo. First 135 dollar RC, just over a week later, im into it DOUBLE that in all unlisted upgrades, NOT including whats on order. Im hooked, going to be buying a kit next and building it myself and it WILL BE A REDCAT model as the price/fun/durability were insane.Read full review

Copying my review from the one I posted for my friends on facebook after originally receiving the product; If you or anyone you know (US based) are/is looking for a remote controlled rock-crawler/offroad truck to be the big present for a girl or boy aged between ~8 and 16, in the $135 price range, listen up; (For context, $135 will buy you about 1.4 X Big Sh***y Plastic RC Toy Cars at Walmart or equivalent. And trust me, they are just _awful_ quality. What I'm about to recommend however is _awesome_ quality. Not something I say lightly. It _feels_ like it should cost no less than $300) This is a _large_ (1/10th scale, 18" long, 10" wide, 6" ground clearance) heavy "hobby grade" rock crawler. "Hobby Grade" in this context means "Adult hobbyists with access to adult bank accounts buy themselves this grade to play with." This isn't a racing truck, it moves at around walking pace, it's designed to climb over gnarly obstacles, and this makes it very manageable for younger kids. It can of course be modified to move very briskly as well, with simple changes in gearing and/or motor. Highlights (in Dermot's opinion) include; Heavy duty metal frame (with _crazy_ axle articulation) Real 'coil over oil' shock absorbers 4 control arm (metal w/ ball joints) live axle suspension front and rear Real 'bead lock' rock crawler tires (physically bolted to the rims so they can't slip) Real 2.4Ghz radio controller (compatible with other proper hobby grade gear) with proper steering and throttle trim pots Comes with 7.2v NiMh battery and charger Real hobby brushed motor (huge compared to the cheap-o toys) Real hobby motor speed controller Real discrete 3 channel RC receiver Big high-torque waterproof steering servo All ball-bearings (no plastic or metal bushings) Metal universal joints. Metal differentials and drive shafts Indestructible ABS body Fully repairable, comes with complete parts 'fiche just in case, but built to last; short of holding the wheels so they can't turn and giving it full throttle over and over, I can see virtually no way to break this thing. Fully upgradeable, all components are standard interchangeable hobby parts, down to the axles and gears. Make it go faster, make it go longer, make it go harder, you can even add 4 wheel steering with a servo, a couple of linkages, and a slightly different transmitter. Comes with everything you need, ready to run, just factor in 8x AA batteries for the transmitter. And why have I wasted 1/2 an hour of my life typing this up? Because I would have Lost My Tiny Little Mind if I'd received one of these as a kid and I _really_ hope I can make that happen for some other kid out there. And for the parent shelling out the money, know this; I _cannot_ see _how_ they can make _any_ money selling this quality at this price. It's an absolute steal. I also have to assume that the other products in their range must be of similar quality, if you see a deal on something else in their catalog, I _strongly_ suspect you won't be disappointed either.Read full review

I feel like the Everest 10's price to fun ratio is amazing. With other brands you get pretty much the same thing at a much higher inflated price. I highly recommend the Everest 10 the only necessary upgrade is steel lockers. Once that's done this truck is pretty tough!

Good starting rig, hours of entertainment, has some issues that are fixable. most axial parts will fit with little to no modification. torque twist is a big issue due to the design of the chassis/suspension but with a few mods and a little creative engineering the rig will produce good handling and lots of fun. Defiantly not a competition crawler but for a starter with intentions to modify, and for the money this truck cant be beat.
