This is a great little amplifier. I wear it at the beach so I don't hazard my regular hearing aids. It takes a bit to fit properly and once done a spot of super glue holds it together well. It is comfortable and works well for someone with mild to moderate hearing loss. It is not a hearing aid ,but will substitute for one on a temporary basis.

Not having the hundreds or thousands of dollars to enhance my age imposed hearing losses, I have tried a number of offerings of amplifiers and low cost hearing aids (Siemens) over the past couple of years. In all cases the units were substandard. They were usable, but very poor clarity for speech understanding. If there was any source of outside noise, it overpowered the speech function. I tried this RCA on a whim and to my surprise, it works almost as well as the high dollar stuff. Simple and straight forward, it blocks outside noise in deference to speech mode and you can hear voices very clearly. No need for closed captions on the TV. Also a plus, the unit fits discreetly behind the ear and if you don't want the wide tube feature (better sound) you can order an after market thin, open fit, type ear dome, but the unit hides itself well with the regular tube. I bought another one as a second ear or back up unit. WIll but a couple more as they come available just to have a ready stock. I have 50% loss in one ear and 20% in the other. Clinicians say to put the unit in the good ear if using only one. It works great. Buy batteries cheap on Ebay. As the old saying goes, "Try it, you'll like it.Read full review

I had a pair of Oticon aids that cost 5K. They died. I got this to fill in and was surprised how great they are. I bought one and wish I bought two. Now I can't find a second one. I find these more comfortable that my expensive set. I like that the ear bud does not go into the ear canal. The volume control is wonderful. I did not have this option before. These are only slightly larger. Instead of a wire, the sound is delivered through a tube. I find this to be superior but be careful when you take off or put on your glasses. The tube can disconnect from the unit so you will to pop it back in. Not a big deal, just be mindful of it. I like that I can clean the ear bud and the tube. I like the sound quality. I like that it is not rechargeable. I like using batteries and this takes the standard 312 batteries that I used on my super expensive hearing aid. The sound quality is excellent. As you use it you find it easy to handle. the battery door is difficult at first but soon you get the knack. I have recommended these to friends and they tell me they are happy. I can't thank the Symphnonix enough for such a nice item at a terrific price. Before I found this particular item I thought I would not be able to have such a nice device again. It's really super. Thank you!Read full review

I have hearing loss in the speech range. Now that I am retired I no longer have insurance that covers hearing aids. I needed a new set and couldn't afford the $1500 to $2800 per ear that brand name hearing aids cost so I decided to give this a try. To my surprise it works as well or better than the expensive aids my insurance purchased. I particularly like that I can select the amplification of the speech range and the reduction of background noise.
