There are so many shaving cream products on the market today, it's hard to know what to pick. I was lucky to have been recommended Proraso Sapone Barbe Dure. While this isn't a soap that is super easy to work up a lather, it's well worth it. You do get a good quality foam with this (providing your brush is decent), but it's also conservative in how much soap is used up. This means this soap will last a long time. Just as important is the performance. I find that this soap does a nice job of moisturizing the face and lubricating the whiskers for a smooth, close shave. And when you're done, you're smelling just great. Your brush will have a wonderful aroma to it as well, and you may find yourself occasionally sniffing it when it's dry. ;-)

I've tried several products over the years and this is close to the best out there. For years, I've used Trumper shave cream and love it. On a whim, I tried Proraso just to compair. They are very competetive, but for the price Proraso wins out at less than half the cost and equal the quality. The only drawback is the scent is far too strong. Itt isn't unpleasant, but it can be a bit overwhelming. Back on the postitve side, it takes an almost insiginficant amount to produce a great shave.

As I move into this new frontier known as DE shaving I'm glad to have found this soap. The Proraso shaving soap arrived quickly and I couldn't wait to try it out. I was able to work up a nice lather without much work (or knowledge). The smell was great, not over bearing and very enjoyable. As my first soap I don't think I could have made a better choice, but then again I'm a it is my only soap so what do I know? If you're starting out and you want an easy to use, fresh smelling, make your face feel good shaving soap look no further than this one.

I started wet shaving a few years ago and have been trying a variety of shave soaps and creams over that time period. I'd rate this particular one very middle of the pack from the shave soaps I've tried. The price was reasonable and it was great that it came in a bowl to store it in, however, the main thing that stood out for me was unfortunately a negative. This shave soap seemed to dry out on my face very quickly while shaving, especially when going for the second or third passes. It was a good value shave soap to try out, however, I doubt I'll purchase it again. Please note that I do currently have a Proraso shave cream and a Proraso after shave balm that I like so I would recommend the brand overall.

In my opinion the Sandalwood scent on this soap is very mild but pleasant. The soap lathers quickly and provides a very protective layer of lubrication for shaving. I recommend that disposable cartridge razor shavers study how to make a lather using a shaving brush as this IS NOT an instantly foaming product. And requires basic understanding of how to "bloom" the soap and make a lather using a moist shaving brush BEFORE using for the first time. Traditional wet shavers should find this a very easy to use shaving soap. This size container of soap will last several months to over a year depending on the shaver's individual frequency of use. It is a soap well worth trying by those who are completely unfamiliar with either the Brand or new to wet shaving.
