I purchased a used(mint) Polk PA880 as a replacement for an old school Kicker zr360 which was failing. Part of a premium stock system integration with a better subwoofer. I went with the PA880 for a few reasons: 1) I trust the brand & have had good exeriences with Polk speakers in the past. 2) It was suitable for a high power application. 3) Very attractive price point. It's currently powering an Audiobahn Dub1200(700 watts RMS) 4ohm DVC running at 2ohms. I've found the power rating of the PA880 to be accurate & addequate(500 watts RMS/ 800 watts peak @ 2ohms) for my application. The pros: It has a small footprint for a class A/B amplifier with this kind of wattage. So far, it's had zero problems running at a 2ohm load & it's output at frequencies below 80hz is impressive. It has a bass boost function but I've never had a need to turn it on. It comes with a remote bass level knob which is a neccessity for stock system intergration. The cons: I've found that transient bass tones can be a little flat in comparison to my last amp, but it's most likely due to the high demand of my particular sub. I've got alot of experience with custom mobile audio installations & I'd recommend this amp to anybody who needs a solid mono amp for a single 12" or dual 10" application & doesn't want to break the bank. I would've been very satisfied with this amp at $300-$400. I paid under $100 & it was the best money I ever spent on any amp... BY FAR. Run 4gauge power/ground with a 1 farad cap & enjoy!Read full review
I put this and 2 Audiobahn 10's in my 350z. I have to have my bass turned almost all the way down. Very powerful amp and the sound quality is good too. No complaints so far. I bought it used and its still working only after a month thought. If it lasts then I would recommend it to someone.
This amp cranks out way more power than I thought it would. I have 1 CT Sounds strato 15 hooked up to it, and it has it flexing like crazy. I've had the PA660.4 in my other car for 3 years with no issues. So I'm sure the 880.1 will be just as reliable
love the amp it has plenty of power the remote volume is really nice. cant say anything bad about it will rattle the windows in the house hooked it up to a polk 12 inch dvc sub in a seald box and it really thumps couldnt get any better
