Simple setup. 4K UHD upscaling. And rich sound with more depth than the Yamaha it replaced. Couldn't be happier with this unit. I would buy it again and recommend it highly. You can spend more, but only if you need more power. I have a large living room and this Pioneer is much more than enough...

I assume this unit will do everything as advertised, but the typical person would find it very difficult to use. The set up was fairly easy but using the remote and reading the directions in the manual would take a genius.

I have had this about 2 weeks now and so far I like it very much. I was using a THX 92 Elite before this and though I know there is supposedly about 150 less watts of power, I think the LX500 sounds about equal in power. Must be the D3 design. I find it confusing that when I have Klispch Heresy speakers in front in back, it calls them 'small' in the auto setup. Also the auto setup doesn't push my center channel Infinity as high in power as my fronts, so I had to manually adjust it. I use 4 Subwoofers and it sure does decent on sending a signal to all 4 with two Y adapters. It is a receiver with many functions to set up and a printed manual would be a benefit and should be supplied by all makers of these upper end receivers. It is a pain going online just to read it, and I sure don't want to have to print out a book of pages of which I would only use about 1/4 of. Overall a very nice receiver with excellent sound when adjusted the way you need. A decent value when bought on sale. I have seen some places online, selling it for more than suggested retail price.Read full review

This is it, the entry level to the Pioneer SC line with all the latest tech goodies built in. Lacks a few high end features but for the price it cannot be beat.

I tried a lot of receivers in the last year and no one had the sound I was searching for. I tried Pioneer Elite VSX-90, Marantz SR7011, Yamaha RX-A3070, Yamaha and Denon AVR-X6300. Now with PioneerElite SC-LX501 finally I found a sound more in the style of my Bryston-Revel stereo system. The detail is perefct in music or movies, I tried with a pair of small Pinnacle BD-500 (it needs subwoofer, but the sound is clear, near to perfect in mid and top frequencies) and my old Revel M12, with the Revels subwoofer isn't necessary. Now for the money I paid $499.99 is a bargain. I didn't think a receiver could sound so right.
