We bought the exact same unit almost 3 years ago to the day. It works well until it dies. Our pool pump motor is in the sun all day and we can't do much about that, so that probably shortens the life. Sticking with the same motor helps in that we know how to do it, and it has the exact same footprint. Overall I guess I would recommend it. I am not sure that a more expensive pump will last longer under the conditions we have.

went to install brand new pump and found the frame was cracked like it was dropped from a ten story building. packing was just awful, box was not strong enough for the weight, and the packing material was not strong enough.

This pump was easy to install, the only bad thing is the warranty is void if you install it yourself. You would have to pay an installer 300$ to install it which is very stupid. I just bought the square trade warranty instead for 22$. Hopefully I won’t need to use it. I had a similar pump on it which lasted 9 years so hopefully this one will last the same time. As of right now...I would recommend this pump. It is a half horse power more than the one I had as seems to work better with my automatic vacuum and skimmer.

Great pump, very powerful, quiet, and well-made. When I installed this pump, I had to get a larger filter too, because this pump moves so much water so fast the filter pressure was running high. Now my pool water looks better than ever. With this pump you don't even need a variable speed, because you don't need to run it for as much time, so it will still save energy.

Prior one lasted 4 yrs and seem to short out (not just the capacitor) in the windings likely from rust. If I had a bigger pool (ours is less than 10k gallons), I would definitely spend the extra for a variable speed model as its sealed which I believe will dramatically extend life. But I love the pump as it's relatively quiet and reliable!!
