Great and clever dialogues throughout. Easy to miss some of it; will watch again. Recognized New Mexico scenes. Everyone played their role well. The alien was brilliant. Highly recommend.

I would recommend this film if you had nothing else to do. It was surely better than many other movies, but not the kind of film you would stay up late or lose sleep to see. Paul is a humanoid alien life form that crashed on Earth sixty years ago. Since then, he has realized that he wasn't an honored guest, but a captive. Now, having shared all of the information he possesses, the "agency" has decided to "autopsy" him. Finally, one night he is able to make his escape and try to get to a rendevous point and be picked up by his kind, but instead has a wreck with two British "Treckie" type nerds who are on their dream vacation of all UFO and Si-Fi convention sights. They pick him up and begin their "Grand Adventure" of trying to help him get home. This movie has a couple of really stupid Government agents, a foul mouthed disfigured girl from a RV park with a religious zealot daddy, and the woman who originally found Paul when he crashed sixty years ago. She named him after her dog "Paul" who got killed by the crashing spaceship. This film is a "knock-off" of a combination of other movies, like ET, Midnight Run, all mixed up with Beevis and Buthead. It just didn't come out the way they planned. I do think that children and even teenagers will probably enjoy this film.Read full review
Somehow if I were truly an alien from a more advanced civilizations, the Earth would be the last place I would want to visit because although benevolent as portrayed in movies such E.T., the Day the Earth Stood Still, Close Encounter of the Third Kind, and Paul our government without any legitimate reason is presented as doing its best to destroy them or dissect them for scientific purposes. On the other hand the aliens that are or will be here sooner or later to destroy us! Paul is unique because it has been used by the government to the fullest extent and the next step is to destroy him. Before that happens though, he manages to escape and teach us some lessons about our religious fanaticism, loyalty, enjoying life, and performing what we consider miracles until we reach the unexpected climax of a movie that is worth seeing and having fun in the process.Read full review
First of all I like Jason Bateman so that got my attention w/this movie. I saw a little of it on TV but never caught the whole movie. Bought here off eBay & it's a keeper, full of humor. A movie you would want to add to your collection if you like humor @ it's best. Also has a moving story to it @ the end. Everyone who has seen it raved about it & the more you watch it the more you catch something you missed. It also goes into detail about how they filmed it which in itself is adds to the humor. It may not be a box hit I don't know. I will say it is a movie that's a keeper & the cast are just great in the roles they play. Want a good laugh this one is chucked gull of laughs.
