Bought this item new / sealed for ~$80, which wasn't a terrible price. Granted I'm surprised memory isn't dirt cheap yet, but that's neither here nor there. Bought this to upgrade a laptop as a project for a friend's kid. This is the low-power PC3L version, which not all laptops support. But this laptop takes both regular PC3 and PC3L[ow-voltage] memory. Popped it in, put the cover back on, and away it goes. Memory used to peg at 100% usage fairly frequently with 4GB, now it usually sits at relatively low percentage of total memory being in use, except when doing heavy work. The 5400 rpm hard disk is still the system bottleneck. But, at least the memory won't be one anymore. PNY seems to generally make good memory products, IMO. Whether flash drives or desktop/laptop memory. Generally seems to work well. I've only had it in for a few weeks, so can't comment on long-term stability/quality. But, so far so good. No glitches straight out of the bubble pack. Fingers crossed, it'll remain working well for many years to come!Read full review
