I absolutely love this ice machine. Does not have to be hooked up to a water line! Two negatives....nothing I can't live with.....it is loud (sounds like a stove vent) and there is alot of dripping water from the front of the machine. The drip piece catches most of it. I just put a dish towel on the drip pan piece and it works for me!

I bought my ice maker and I really loved it, but it quit working after 4 months. I submitted a complaint, but nothing was done about it. For what I paid for it, it should have lasted for years to come!!

No flying cars yet, but we have a convenient, countertop appliance that makes crushed ice nuggets! If you've ever wanted that restaurant-style crushed ice anytime you want it, this is the answer. The price is a little off-putting at first. You may be skeptical and ask yourself, Is it worth $300+ for a small tabletop ice maker? There are other table top ice makers out there, many far cheaper, and they're most likely inferior, and do not make cruched ice nuggets. When you compare the design, build quality and reliability of similar sized appliances, such as a decent espresso maker, and consider there aren't any other companies making this specialty appliance (or not to these high standards), then it appears a bargain. Correct me if I'm wrong but the price has come down some; I thought they were more expensive a few years ago. They still don't have a viable competitor. Noise of the fan is not a big deal to me. It's quiet enough, like the fan in your computer. You get used to it. Being in the kitchen most likely, who cares. You likely won't hear it in the next room. Any kind of refrigeration will expell some hot air in the house. The heat from this unit is negligible, you won't notice it. Takes the appliance something like a few hours to make a full bin of crushed ice nuggets. I do wish it could do so quicker, but that seems fair considering it's size. It's only an issue sometimes with guests on special occasions, ie Thanksgiving. A full size refrigerator with ice maker probably takes just as long to fill up the bin. However this bin is not as large as a full size refrigerator's ice maker. There's probably only a small margin of people that want/need the bin full 24/7, ie if you work from home and drink iced tea - all day long. I find it meets my needs well. I do use a stainless, double walled insulated tumbler, which makes the drink stay cold much longer, and the ice doesn't melt nearly as fast. Filling the tank with water is something of an inconvenience, albeit minor. I use filtered water, not tap. I'm aware of the possibility of hooking it up to a water line. You can hook a water line up to any appliance that requires refilling, ie coffee maker. They're not difficult to install. But this may require you park the appliance next to the sink or refrigerator to share the water line. Or you can have a water line extended under, behind or through cabinets to where you need it (a professional may be preferred to do this correctly). Hands down, this is the best crushed ice nugget maker for home or small office use.Read full review

I have wanted one of these Opal Ice Makers since they first came out but didn’t want to spend the money. For my birthday I decided to treat myself, and I’m so glad I did! This ice is perfect!! Everyone in the office is using it now. It’s a huge hit! I have it set by schedule using the app on my phone, and it’s so easy. Wish I had bought one sooner.
