First of all, the setup was fairly easy. Using the AccuEQ room calibration for speaker calibration was very simple. Music quality was amazing as was the surround sound audio. My set-up is a 5.1 so I am not utilizing all the channels available. The only issue I am having is getting the ONKYO Receiver to recognize my TCL TV's HDMI ARC connection. The HDMI ARC is designed to transmit audio so a secondary optical cable for the sound is not required. I am having to use an optical cable to get sound. It is a small issue for me. Other than that, I am very pleased with the ONKYO Receiver.

Great amp with plenty of dynamic headroom, feature rich, good sound, great versatility. Great for Dolby atmos and dts X. A must get at a great value I'd you are considering upgrading to atmos and need more than a basic 7 channel setup. Sound on playing music is equally astonishing, many different formats and dsp modes, plenty of spare power to play loudly without distortion. It makes my speakers sound much better than the amp it replaced. Once you get the settings dialed in to your liking, you wont be disappoined. I cant believe you get a nine channel receiver at this quality for under $1000 bucks. Buy one today!

Best Receiver for the price as of 2018. Love the 9.2 Dolby Atmos. Only downside is that the built in Chromecast is AUDIO ONLY. Still need a seperate app. streaming device if you don't have a smart TV.

this item should have away to connnect a second AV receiver to to have more channels and when I do my home work check some other Onkyo receivers that have more value some of them cheaper than TX - NR 787 any way its too late I should buy and wait it was too expensive, $ it didn't worth $ 599.00 as used Av receiver.

it was a smoking deal. I was bothered by the fact that today's equipment doesn't come with a printed manual because I am not proficient in my use of the internet. It was slightly complicated to hook up to older equipment however once everything was figured out it performed well. This unit was also missing the F.M. antenna, but considering the savings from "Open Box" it was a small price to pay
