I wanted a small compact camera to take with me in my purse or keep in my car so I would not miss some great shots when I did not have my larger digital or larger DSL with me. This one is great and fits great in my hand. The zoom is much better than expected and photos taken so far have been very good. It will serve my purpose just fine. The required batteries are not hard to find also and I like that. It's a good deal!
I bought this camera because I can't justify the prices for decent digital cameras. A digital that will match this would almost certainly start at $300 and go up from there. These days, I can easily scan from negatives or prints into digital format of any resolution I want, not too mention getting CD with my prints. Consequently, I feel have MORE flexibility with this camera than I would get with a digital camera. This was a $200 or more camera new. Now it can be had for as little as $25. It does almost everything my SLR (Olympus OM-2000) does, but in a very compact package. Compared to the Epic Zoom QD model, it adds a panoramic photo capability and a shutter release confirmation feature. It also works with the Olympus (RC-200) remote control, so no more blown family photos taken by someone else. I found the remote control (new) for 89 cents at KEH.com. This is a perfect example of why sticking with 'old tech' sometimes makes perfect sense. This camera will easily keep me going until digital cameras with comparable resolution have come down to more reasonable prices.Read full review

I purchased this camera for a quick shot camera, and to back up my Minolta. Since my Fuji stopped working and I could not find the same model to replace it, I decided to go with a different brand. The camera has been a disappointment, the pictures are grainy when I use the telephone option. When I use the normal lens the pictures are not evenly exposed, several have had white out areas, especially when using it in the sun. Non of the pictures have that clear sharp appearence, they look as if I'm using a no name camera. Unfortunately I will not be using this camera as a back up for anything because I can't trust the exposure. I have actually had better pictures out of the one time use cameras. Very disappointed.
I love the camera and the camera was in excellent condition the owner took very good care of this camera and I found nothing to dislike about the camera and the only exception is that the orginal owner of this camera did not save the intruction booklet for Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 170 35mm film camera which would have help me to operate this camera much sooner and I had to order a new instruction booklet through Olympus manufacture. I did check with the orginal camera owner emailing questions regarding the condition of the camera before I started bidding on this camera to avoid being very unhappy with this camera and regretting winning this camera. Since digital cameras now has taken over the 35mm camera market and is now very popular but this particular model is now discontinued and I always wanted an Olympus Stylus camera with a zoom lense but I never could afford to buy one when this particular model was new and first came out over five years ago. And now the orginal owners are now getting rid of their 35mm due to now owning digital cameras and are now selling their cameras for a good bargain on eBay so I decided it was the right time to buy an used Olympus Stylus Epic Zoom 170 35mm camera and I am now very happy and satisfied with this camera.Read full review
