The 35-100 f2.0 lens is one of Olympus's Super High Grade lens (or from the top shelf). I purchased this to use for wedding photography. There is no other comparable product for the 4/3's line. It is big, it is heavy but the images are razor sharp. There is a tripod mount on the lens, and for portraiture - a tripod would be a handy addition. I purchased this to use on a 4/3's system (Olympus E5 - with grip) and have found it to easy to handle. And with comments about a new body due out in the end of 2013 - I am quite happy to invest in quality glass. The bokeh (out of focus background etc) is silky smooth.
OMG, what a lens! Sure, it's big and heavy as a 70-200mm ƒ2.8 for full frame, but it's a whole stop brighter, and is so sharp it hurts, even wide open, even edge-to-edge! I call it my "bag of primes." When I feel unhappy about carrying it around, I think about how much weight I'd have lugging 35/2, 50/2, 75/2, and 100/2 prime lenses around. For some years, it was the fastest zoom available. I have not tried the newer Sigma 1.8 zooms, but reviews indicate they are not so good wide open and edge-to-edge. Add a EC-14 teleconverter, and you can add a quality 141mm ƒ2.8 prime to what you get in that package. I think it's the ultimate event lens. I just shot a three-day conference with it, and the range was perfect for small, classroom sessions. I added the EC-14 for the plenary session in the dimly-lit, 400-person auditorium and for the conference banquet, and was able to stop speakers' hand motions, which would have been a blur with any other lens. Before I bought it, I looked around and could not find a single negative review. The worst anyone mentioned was the auto-focus louder than more modern lenses. I read several reviews where people bought it, were unhappy with the size and weight, then sold it, and regretted (or reversed) their decision. I use it a lot on µ4/3rds, more than I use native µ4/3rds lenses. Focus speed on the OM-D E-M1 Mark II is exceptional, but don't expect fast focus on other bodies that do not have PDAF focus.Read full review

Yes, this is an old and heavy lens, but it is the best lens I have ever used. I use it with both my old Olympus E 30 and with my Olympus OMD-Em1 Mark2. Photos are very sharp, and I have very few discard photos. Would be nice if it wasn't so heavy but I can totally overlook the weight with the quality of pictures I take with it.
