The drill is excellent, but the battery is defected so I had to buy a new battery.

We have been using this particular Makita model of right angle drill for several years(mid to late 1990's) to present and it is still the hands down WINNER. The long 9.6 volt battery charges well; and has a long shelf life (in between uses). The long handle benefit offers a huge leverage against rotation (trying to twist). In rebuilding floor systems, using a new parallel joists; we will drill a 1/8" pilot with one drill and then use a second one to run 3" deck screws into the joists. Awesome tool. We are still buying them on EBAY, as our back-ups; as well as, for gifts to associate contractors.
Strong, durable and handy tool. I have the DA391D and the DA390D Makita right angle drills. The 1st one is variable speed and comes in very handy for drilling and tightening screws in small places. The 2nd one delivers a strong 800 RPM single speed. Both have reverse. I purchased an inexpensive 3600 mA hours Chinese battery which I have used for years when my Makita 9000 battery died. I bought both drills used and have been very happy with them. It's a great tool for anyone who has to work in tight spaces.

The variable speed is a very useful addition to the right angle drill.
