The unit is very well built and both the helmet mount and handlebar mount are easy to use and hold the light firmly. The light is easy to attach and unattach from the mount. It would be nice if the battery would last longer on the highest setting, but it still does pretty good. The light automatically goes to the lowest setting when the power has dropped to 25%. It is quite light and I don't even know it's on my helmet when the unit is placed in the correct location so it's not too far forward or back on the helmet. I bought a second one to mount on my handlebars and I switch it out with the helmet light when it goes to low power. My main unit on the handlebars is a NiteRider 1850.

I am sold on Niterider lights for my bikes, they just plain look cool and work well at night and day. I have the 650 Lumina and I was blown away how bright it was on the street. I love the 850 and use this as my helmet light for the trails, plenty of lumens, together they both pair well for illumination at night. USB charging, and I use a power pack to charge mine up. Mounting on the handlebars is easy and quick, quick release with just a push of the tab. There are other more expensive ones out there, and good quality, but I find these to suit my needs perfectly.

Lumina 850 is really a remarkable Headlight. A friend of mine recommended an older model - the 650, but I did my research and one of the videos said that this one is newer, lighter and even better. I ordered 2 - for my son and for me. Did not know what to expect, but when they arrived we both got blown away. The headlights feel very solid - well built, the mounting bracket works like a charm - no bobbing back and forth, no shaking. But what is even more important is the performance of the light: it is bright enough on the lowest setting to ride in the dark. I looked at operation times when I was researching several different lights. What matters to me is how often will I have to charge it. At the highest setting the manual says it will operate 1.5h, on middle setting - 4h. That got me interested. But I did not expect it to be bright enough to ride in the dark on the lowest setting - and that one allows you to use it for ~6h :) This plus longevity of NiteRider lights (a friend told me he has used his NR650 for 6 years) makes this a fantastic source of light for me.Read full review

I use it a couple times a week. Its mounted on my winter bike, It sits outside in the cold. Used it tonight, temps were below zero Fahrenheit. The lithium battery has an impressive resistance to cold, and the light was bright, although with out testing it with a real measuring tool, hard to say exactly how bright. Fit and finish is good, all around happy with the light. I did get it in the mail in the lock out mode. Took me awhile to figure out that the light has a lock out to avoid accidently turning on the light. Just hold the power button down for about 10 seconds and then it will cycle through the modes.

At first i was a little bit not sure weather to buy Niterider or Cygolite that were the finalist of a huge list of options a pulled out. I was looking for a reliable lamp, without batteries and better woth the usb cable. After asking cyclist friends i decided to try Niterider and specially the 850 model... man is a great lamp. I ride mtb and was looking for a lamp that will not move while off road and this remains where you place it. The security botton is simple and the posibilities to go from energy saving stage to full power light (i brights like daylight) is a great stuff. I am very happy with this purchase.
