Show's stunning; especially if you forgot about it and haven't watched it in some time. Things you'll notice and love are: the uncut broadcast (of course), different camera angles for a lot of shots, and the new audio mastering sounds just amazing. Bonus features include the practice session in which they rehearse some songs. There is also an interview bonus section; nothing out of this world, but it's a plus. Since the audio was not edited for this DVD to be TV/fan-friendly, you can hear Kurt messing up the lyrics for the song Lake of Fire. I was used to the original broadcast and so I never got to taste the raw power that was behind this show, and it was released just in time to make me remember how much I love this band and how cool to see any uncut performance is, specially if it has this incredible energy and honesty. This is the closest you can get with out being an actual attendee there. All in all, this is must have for any Nirvana fan and a nice gift to the rest of the world.Read full review
Maybe Kurt was just at the right place at the right time. Maybe he was a sloppy guitar player. But he was a good song writer and he was honest. Call it Nirvana. That's what it is. Nirvana unplugged was to me then what it is to me now. An honest performance of a band at its best that spoke to a generation and more. Call Cobain what you will. He is the Elvis and The Beatles of a later generation. And just so you know, there hasn't been an artist in rock as big since. To finally see the entire concert uncut in the pleasure of my own home is a blessing. As a bonus, you can view the original aired version. The rehearsals offer insight into how the night was played out. See why Kurt was worried about screwing up 'The Man Who Sold The World', and why 'PennyRoyal Tea' was a solo performance. See for yourself why Nirvana Unplugged is a testament of time.Read full review
This album is, by far, one of the best albums out there, not only does it have the poetic music of Nirvana, but a little glimpse into the life of the band members as they joke with one another, and the audience, between songs. I personally like the little bit where Kurt Cobain tells the audience how someone wanted to sell him Leadbelly's guitar for $500,000, so Kurt asked David Geffen (Geffen Records) if he would buy it for him. I may be partial to Cobain and Nirvana because of a deep rooted admiration of the music since they first appeared on MTV, but I believe this band is one of the few original styles to arrive since Jim Morrison and Steven Tyler.
Nirvana Unplugged is a masterpiece. Its a true classic.Nirvana is a band whi never will get old or to overrated.Their unplugged unplugged is really well known.Everyone like nirvana unplugged.fan or not.its that good.Kurt Cobain (singer/guitar) shows his nice, quiet, and sensitive side, along with the band members(dave, krist, pat).Nirvana is was one of the best bands out there in the 90s,and still is!!!overall,i rate nirvana unplugged 10/10.cause i just love their music and their performance on unplugged.watch it,you won't be disapointed!!
From a time when music wasn't so overtly controlled and produced (i.e. homogenized), and artists/musicians weren't kept on such a short leash! No artist or band from the last 20 years could fit the bill as they did.
