I purchased the Nikon 1VI w/ a 10-30 mm lens last year. I quickly realized I needed a distance lens. I was looking at either this lens or the super electronic 10-100 mm lens. After much deliberation I decided to the 30-110 mm lens only because of the price. Although, I do appreciate the fact that this lens is much lighter and smaller than the electronic lens, not to mention $750 less, the limitations are too great, and in retrospect I wish I would had just bit the bullet and gotten the 10-100 mm lens, instead. The main reasons are that with the 30-110 mm lens, I have to switch lens for close up and distance, which causes me to lose some great shots, when seconds count. Additionally, it entails carrying two lenses with me. I purchased the Nikon 1V1 because of its small size. I don't think this lens is able to track moving changes very well when shooting video clips, either. I still LOVE my camera, and, of course, this lens is a great asset to being able to capture pictures at a distance when people do not know I'm taking their pictures so the shots are more natural. I do plan, however, on eventually making the plunge to purchase the 10-100 mm electronic lens.Read full review

I purchased a Nikon 1 V1 with the 10-30 lens as a backup to my pro bodies. I soon found that the N1 system became my choice for walk-around and wildlife shooting. Using the FT-1 and my Nikkor pro lenses is sometimes just too big a package. I was skeptical that such a small lens would be as good as it is. I bought a refurbished copy that arrived looking like new. Test shots are wonderful. Chromatic aberrations are almost non-existent. Distortion is easily corrected in LR, View NX or Capture NX2. My current Kit consists of 2 N1 bodies, the 10-30 and 30-110 and FT 1 adaptor. Choosing a third pro lens for travel gives me a kit about 1/8 the size and weight of my FX gear. This is not a fast lens but I use it mostly where there is adequate light. The lens is a perfect match with my 10-30 to give a two lens FX equivalent of 27mm-297mm. By the way, my second N1 body is the AW-1.Read full review
My old 30-110 lens died right when I was going to take some graduation photos. I ordered this as a replacement. It is identical to the original. The lens is easy to fit into place and is lightweight. It came with both front and back covers and a sun/glare guard. The pictures are sharp and clear-everything my old lens was before it died. Excellent product.

This is the most practical tele zoom for the traveling photographer Being so small and light, there is no reason to ever leave it behind. The resolution produced more than makes up for the small sensor of the camera.
