I believe this is Google's best phone, pre-Pixel. Performance and form-factor are excellent, with great screen and battery life. Superb showcase for Android OS. As usual for all Nexus phones, the device has low-spec cameras which keep the cost of the device down and keep it from competing with Google's brand partners. Other than that, the original Nexus 5 and this 5X are the best mobile phones I've used (and, as a developer, I've had many).

Don't buy an old used Nexus 5x. 90% functional. Unable to mount phone to PC for photo/file transfer even after many days of troubleshooting (trust me I tried all the fixes).Likely some complication with new Windows OS and drivers. Battery life started off okay but started getting worse after a week of use. Slow and stutters when using certain apps. Will be returning the phone and finding something a little newer that can handle things better.

I'm totally an iPhone guy. I've had most of them since the first one in 2007. But being forced to update to iOS 10 and the inevitable slowdown that always seems to come with iOS updates was the last straw. So I've decided to try Android again. I've tried Androids a few times over the years and was always disappointed. The OS and hardware have really matured since the last time I tried using one. I wanted to dip my toes into a pure Android experience, without committing a large sum of money into brand new hardware, so a Nexus device was the obvious choice. This phone has already way exceeded my expectations! Its not top-of-the-line hardware, but it's running Android 7.0, so it's got all of the latest and greatest of Google on it. I HIGHLY recommend this phone to anyone looking to try Android on a budget. You'd never know that this phone is over a year old already. There are a couple things that could be better on this hardware. The audio quality isn't all that great. Its not nearly as bad as some reviews would lead you to believe. But it could be better for sure. The volume and power buttons could be a little more clicky, but they seem to work just fine. Other than that, I really can't say anything bad about this phone.Read full review

Love this nexus. Not weighed down with carrier bloatware. Good battery life. Feels rugged. Works all the time. I like the fingerprint sensor, but I might like it more on the front. Cameras are decent. Great call quality. The speaker for music or speakerphone is the worst. Overall, it's a great phone

Excellent phone I have always been a Google fan and love the non bloatware and automatic updates with the OS. Was a gift for my other half and she loves it no complaints better upgrade going from a small 4.7 in iPhone 5s to the 5x.
