One of the most convenient aspects of the NETGEAR WNDA3100 is that it supports plug and play. This device is ideal for use with Windows 7 and 8, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. Windows operating systems can detect and configure your wireless adapter automatically. That means that there’s no need to install drivers or other software to enjoy wireless connectivity for your computers. Another nice characteristic of this product is that it has dual-band capabilities. That means that you can connect your device to either the 2.4- or 5-GHz band. This gives you options when one frequency isn’t available or is providing poor performance due to congestion and other factors.NETGEAR USB adapters implement the 802.11n, or wireless-n, standard. This version employs multiple antennas to achieve faster data rates. N is also fully backward compatible with older standards, such as B and G. WNDA3100 is an n600 adapter. That means that it can achieve up to 300Mbps on either of the dual bands. It’s theoretically possible to achieve 600Mbps by using both bands at the same time. Whether this is practical will depend on the operating system, hardware, and other factors.This USB adapter works with routers produced by NETGEAR and most other router manufacturers. Since these employ a standard-based networking implementation, compatibility among other standardized hardware isn’t a concern. This model can handle the load whether you’re transferring a large file or connected to an online gaming session. Push ‘N’ Connect is a Wi-Fi protected setup, or WPS implementation, that ensures standard security mechanisms wherever you are. The network adapter also features NETGEAR Genie, which makes any necessary installation and configuration a breeze.The WNDA3100 USB adapter comes with a cap that fits snugly over the male USB end. Use this cap to protect your adapter when you take it with you. If you don’t use your wireless adapter on the go, place that cap on the nub at the other end for safekeeping. This product also comes with a mount and a USB extension cable for easier desk placement at home or at work. The added length also gives you some flexibility to find the ideal location.The WNDA3100 wireless adapter requires at least a USB 1.1 slot to communicate with a network. Since the Universal Serial Bus is backward compatible, it works fine with 2.0, 3.0, and so forth. It can even take advantage of the added bandwidth provided by those implementations. Recommend With Qualifications
I purchased this item to use with a Dish satellite receiver 722k; I had two receivers but only one WNDA3100 v2 adapter. I assumed that this unit was backward compatible, but it is not, and the Dish receiver did not recognize the device. Although it is in like new condition and works properly, I had to purchase a v2 model, which was recognized by the receiver and works great. Therefore, you do need to verify in advance which versions of this adapter are appropriate for your purpose. I'm keeping my v3 for the future as it was a good deal otherwise. I would have given it 5 stars if it was backward compatible, but it is dependent upon the support provided by the device manufacturer to which it is attached.

Cheap price. easy driver installation, just google the model number and adapter version i had a V2 and install. Works great so far. In my opinion it was a great buy could not have beaten the price for the speed this card puts out. I had the original model one before this one and it lasted me 8 years so now I'm glad to see that this card also puts out the same speeds. Very good product very good seller. The package even showed up 2 days early so I am very impressed.

Works with Dish Wally receiver... but for how long?
This really does work with Dish's Wally receiver. The quality is low -I ordered several and one lasted only a day - but haven't had any other problems since. This can also be plugged into a Windows PC for WiFi use. The driver will download from Windows Update autoamtically.

Works fine but had trouble trying to load the software from the CD. I finally realized that I had the right WIFI adapter (version 2) but everything else including the box was for model version 3. Knowing that, I was able to go to the Netgear website and down load the right software.

Just what I needed...
Works great so far, very fast & easy setup for DISH receiver. Don't need the CD that came with it for installing on the DISH. Just plug it in to the DISH Receiver, click SETUP that automatically shows on TV screen, then follow prompts from there to add it to your Network. Haven't tried it on my laptop or desktop computer yet, but should be just as easy, especially since I have the CD that came with it. I Love that it's small & compact, so it doesn't take up much room. Just what I needed & exactly what I was looking for since it's the only one that will work for the DISH Network.
