When the Griswold family goes out to find a Christmas tree in the woods reminds me of childhood in Colorado, and Idaho. However, when dad(Chevy Chase) forgets the saw, he pulls the tree out roots and all, and brings it home. Of course the tree is giant and wil never fit. Both sets of inlaws show up in a single house as well as cousin Eddie (Quaid) and family, the great aunt and uncle show up as well. Dad lights up the entire house(outside) with lights. I mean bright! The family is just going crazy. The great uncle burns up the tree, so dad goes out and cuts down one from the yard. This involves a squirrel. By this time, the neighbors are very upset with him. The police get involved, and it is all so hilarious. So now you know the story of the Griswold family. I would reccomend this movie to anyone who likes Chevy Chase, because this movie is the goofiest of them all. Also, I would say that this is a good family Christmas movie that will make everyone laugh-hard.Read full review

I bought this movie because it is the ultimate family holiday film, playing on the heart strings and it captures the Christmas spirit. A true Christmas classic. Grandmas, grandpas, mother-in-laws, father-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles - they're all on their way to celebrate an old-fashioned Griswold family Christmas. With Clark being an everyman, is struggling to hold on to all of the seasons traditions. All he wants is for his family to experience love, even if they don't realize its importance. His teenaged children are growing up quickly and are more concerned with cool-factor rather than quality family time. Still, Clark marches on. His dreams are selfless. Even if the results are awkward, his intentions are always in the right place. Clark's strong enthusiasm carries the film. Often his big ideas lead to disaster but he just keeps on going. His heart is always in the right place (except when he's cussing someone out with bitter criticism), even if his head isn't. Clark's motivations are so honorable that he's the ultimate dad that you don't want to have because you don't want to have to deal with all of the headaches, but it would be great if your friends had dads like him. “Christmas Vacation” starts with a fast comedic pace and it never lets up until it gets to a slightly contrived ending. And when things do threaten to slow down Cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) and his sad existence comes along to spice things up. Whereas Clark is a victim to circumstance, Eddie is just plain dumb. Scene after scene, it is consistently hilarious. But the comedy wouldn't be nearly as good or memorable if it weren't for the heart of Clark Griswold. A great movie that makes my Christmas a little bit happier every year.Read full review
