ive went through about 5 of these phones in the past 10 years. the keyboard on them is why i keep buying them. they are very simple and i like to use my phone for only texting and phone calls. its getting harder to use apps on these phones, apps often lag the phone especially google play. some of these android models are packaged with different bloatware and can be better or worse then others. if your main goal is just texting and phone calls this phone is all you need. i just take my card out of the inside and plop it into another one. i usually wear the usb cable or keyboard out every 2 years. and if you do get a buggy phone they are fairly cheap to just buy another. i usually try to keep a few spares around for the future. i feel like im being spied on less by phone companies with this older model. the camera is decent. i hate touchscreen phones and the enormous size of newer phones, so i just keep rebuying the old droid. the apps and companies do try to outdate your phone and almost force you to buy a new phone. some apps simply wont upgrade or work. im pretty sure they do it on purpose to stay in business. its like windows, old programs wont work on new windows because they want you to rebuy everything all over again.Read full review

Battery life? usable for light users. Anyone who games or uses their phone for more than 3 hours during the day will cry and need a portable charger. Display? Ghosting issues that you will (sadly) get used to fast Keyboard? Worth it, still destroys every software keyboard out there Software? Use custom software (google Lineage OS and CyanogenMod Droid 4 or something) Should you buy it? No. Get a sim modded Photon Q if possible. This phone is outdated even for a 2012 phone. PERIOD. Buying it for Sailfish OS support? as of now the port is okay-ish, who knows, maybe TheKit has made it perfect.

I really like this phone because I dislike using the keypad on touch screen phones, I alway end up pressing the wrong letter and it drives me nuts. This phone gives you the option of using either the touch screen or a slide out keyboard. Battery life isn't great but its not horrible either, I have to charge it every day to every other day depending on how much I use it. Also for the price this phone is a really good deal, especially when compared to the older generations of iPhones which still go for $500 or more new. So if your looking for a smart phone with a slide out keyboard thats economical this is the one for you.

The Droid 4 is, in my opinion, the best Droid that they have nade so far, It's easy to use, everything is almost self-explanatory, has a great camera, and the slide-out keybuard really comes in handy. I am still trying to get my mom to try one for her 1st smart phone!

If you're looking for a slider smart phone, this one is great. The only drawback is there is no memory card slot.
