Thick and heavy but valuable and useful
This is a comprehensive medical dictionary of over 2000 pages. Almost every two page spread has a photo, illustration, or diagram. To warn you, some of the pictures are unpleasant. The pictures are worth one thousand words. The illustration of an epidural catheter used for surgery finally explained where all the parts are located. The index alone has 250 pages. I have already used this book a lot. Before I finish nursing school, I expect that the wear on the cover and pages will prove it has been one of the most valuable books in my bookcase. I decided to purchase it because it I wanted to start preparing myself for the day when I can get off the wait list and start nursing school. This is the medical dictionary that my college chose for nursing students. I have used other medical resources, and found them to be lacking the information that I needed. I would purchase this dictionary again in a heartbeat.Read full review

very useful item.
Got this product for my daughter who is in nursing school and she uses it all the time. Great reference material that is not always readily available in other material. Very helpful to have this detailed dictionary to help explain medical terminology and different combinations including a specific word.The graphics are very helpful. I also got the pocket edition which is useful too, but this issue has a significant amount of additional detail with anatomical charts. I would highly recommend this product to any health care professional.

I love it-super useful!
I really enjoy using this book; it's really desciptive between the definitions and pictures, it communicates everything really clearly. I'm trying to be a nurse, and my A+P professor recommended it. It has procedures, how to deal with patients and their familis emotions, and diseases. It's amazing! I would recommend it to anyone who is doing anything in health professions.
