This was probably my least favorite season of the whole series run though definitely a MUST have for Mission:iMpossible fans DVD collection. Because the 4th season didn't have a regular female co-star (as previous seasons) they did a lot of big female names in television at the time (Lee Meriwether) to co -star with the force, but this season (5) they added a regular female co-star, and unfortunately they casted Lesley Ann Warren which in my opinion was not experienced enough at that time to take on such a big leading role. There were MANY awkward acting moments throughout this season that included scenes with Lesley. Again.. I think Leonard Nimoy's performance shined throughout this season making it still a Classic!
It is quite interesting that e-bay wants me to write a review of a set of DVDs that I bought from Amazon. I tried to buy Mission Impossible season 5 from e-bay, but for some strange reason their computer apparently did not accept my card. After waiting a couple of weeks I noticed that my bank account had not been billed by e-bay, so I bought the DVDs from Amazon. On the same day that I received the DVDs from Amazon I received an e-mail from e-bay which stated that I would not receive my order until I paid for it. At that point their problem was irrelevant to me. As for the DVDs - -Mission Impossible is great. This is classic 1960s television in which the protagonists use their brains to solve problems instead of a lot of karate. I can understand why Greg Morris walked out on the first Mission Impossible movie in the 1990s. If you like the MI movies, the odds are that you will not like the series. I grew up on MI, Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Sean Connery (the real James Bond). Modern television cannot even come close to the great shows of the past, and that is probably why there are so many bad remakes now. Why watch the remakes when I can watch the Real McCoys?Read full review
This Season continues with Leonard Nimoy as "Paris", an excellent replacement for the departing Martin Landau after Season 3. The new additions are Lesley (Ann)Warren and a very young Sam Elliott. The Season gives a more detail study of the characters in episodes like "The Innocent", "Homecoming", "My Friend, My Enemy", and "Hunted". Lesley Ann Warren and Sam Elliott were very good at attracting the younger audience( I was 15 when it initially aired). The only down side is they were trying to replace Peter Lupus with Sam Elliott in some episodes, bad move Elliott's character was a doctor and you need Lupus's as the strong man back up in all the missions. It was to bad they didn't keep Elliott's character(Doug Robert) after Nimoy left,he did do the first episode of Season 6(Encore). A shame he didn't continue, he would have been an excellent addition to Season 6 & 7. MY score is 10 out of 10!!Read full review
Outstanding movie series . Never a dull moment and keeps me on pins and needles. Good buy
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New
There's nothing like the real original IMF Team involving Jim Phelps, Barney Collier, Willy Armitage, Rolland Hand and Cinnamon. The addition of Leonard Nimoy playing Paris in the newer 5th Edition of Mission: Impossible is absolutely intriguing and compelling with the nature of great actors, plots and superb acting!! Always exciting to the very end!! Your mission should you decide to accept it will be for you to enjoy every episode!! This message will self-destruct in five seconds!! Good luck!!
