These cost $20 here. The quality is fine, I did have to install the driver on one of my dell optiplexs which is not included and had to be downloaded. It is very low profile, almost unnoticeable when plugged in to my laptop. All the other computers i tested it on work well including my other optiplex by just plugging it in. i have tested it on ubuntu 16.04 and windows 7. The range is fine it and across my house (about 30m through 5 walls gets 4 bars on windows 7). I would recommend everyone buy a few of these as they are great to have around.

I mistakenly bought this thinking it could connect to 5 Ghz channels because it is N, but I should have read the description (and done research on N, because apparently there are N adapters that can only connect to one band/2.4Ghz) because this will only connect to 2.4 Ghz channels; thing only cost me $1.20 anyways. My laptop already has b/g adapter internally that can connect to 2.4 Ghz networks. This USB adapter is really poor; just comparing it to my internal adapter, this is at least 1/2 the download speed. I couldn't even stream anything at 480p or higher off Youtube. If you don't have a wireless adapter, this might do, but beyond that, I wouldn't recommend a purchase.

As advertised, it works with Linux and no added driver needed. Just plug it in and it works. As you might expect with such a small package, it needs a pretty good wifi signal to work well. It won't reach as far as a typical phone but it does fine for me from about 40' and through two walls. My laptop with a recent Linux Mint identifies it as "MediaTek 802.11n"
