Did you love playing racing games in the arcade ten years ago? Well, don't expect the exact same experience from this compilation unless you have a "car cabinet" to fit your system inside. You also are going to need a steering wheel controller if you want to get any real enjoyment out of this. It just isn't the same with a regular controller in your hands, though this game does feature some of my favorite racers from back in the day. Don't expect great control because these games were meant to be played in the arcade with a steering wheel or handlebars. But, if you can get it for cheap, this can be both a nice trip down memory lane and a nice game for younger players. Pros: Mostly arcade-perfect emulation, especially if you have a steering wheel instead of the regular controller. Ranges from simple to complex play depending on different levels and games. Something for everyone who is a racing fan, especially those of us who played these games avidly in the arcades. Can be found for $10 or less, including shipping. Cons: Very limited number of different games (only 8!) when compared to Midway Arcade Treasures 1 (24 games) and 2 (20 games). No non-racing games - if you don't like racing, this isn't for you. Less bonus content than the other Arcade Treasures collections. Less replay value as there are so few games, and you probably won't like several, even if you are a racing fan.Read full review
I found many other great arcade racing games on the disc. Also being a fan of race driven i wanted to play the race driven on the disc but it was all messed up so i bought the Gamecube version. It's not as sharp looking on the Gamecube but race driven works better. The menu music doesn't play but it doesn't lag like the ps2 version does. It works well and that's what i wanted. I'm playing this on my wii and it looks nice. I like that the option to adjust the resolution is included. If you are not a huge fan of old arcade racing games like me i would not recommend it but if you are it's a must!
I own the Xbox version of this game, but this GameCube version is way better. The sound is better. The graphics are about the same. But the best thing about it is that it saves your progress. I bought this game for San Francisco Rush 2049 and San Francisco Rush The Rock. All the other games are pure crap. San Francisco Rush 2049: nice graphics, good sound, and good control. San Francisco Rush The Rock: good graphics, OK sound, not so good control.
A bunch of arcade games into 1 disk all on the GameCube! Talk about good quality
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
This is more of a time machine than a game! From 1989 with Super Off Road and S.T.U.N Runner to Race Drivin' 1990, San Francisco Rush: The Rock Alcatraz Edition and my personal favorite, Hydro Thunder 1999; this collection takes you across 10 years of arcade racing's finest offerings. There are 8 different classics to choose from in this compilation. I play the Nintendo GameCube edition on my Wii. The interface is terrific and the game play is just as I remember. In my eyes, this is a Big Hit! Enjoy
