This tv series was my favorite cop show. The show told it like it really was. drugs and cops always bringing the dope kingpins down. I own every season and watch it over and over. These old shows were way better than what is on tv today. Buy all the seasons, you will love them all.

I bought the first two seasons of Miami Vice - I was always busy in college and just didn't have time to watch it - granted, Don Johnson was gorgeous but time was narrow - I watched the pilot and didn't like it - Don Johnson's chest is ad smooth as mine 😲 hairless men should NEVER take off a shirt, NEVER! The other guy has a nice body but a sour face - the show seems to focus gunfights and car chases - boring!

Miami Vice was one of those shows that redefined the way we looked at TV. It showcased popular music from the time, took place in an exotic local like Florida and was probably most well known for it use of pastel colors. the story lines were up to date and could have come from news paper headlines of the time. there was a certain amount of 'wanting to make it appear as realistic as possible while still giving it a fantastical edge that made us all want to drive a Ferrari and carry a Bren Ten (Crocket's gun). If you are looking for outstanding acting and 'Hemingwayesque' writing and plots, don't bother. But Miami Vice was a great show to lose yourself in for an hour and is plenty good enough to see more than once. It is loads better than the movie, that is for sure.
Miami Vice is perhaps one of the most definitive, trend-setting drama series in TV history; if not for the flash and sounds, then for the way its continuing plotline spun you 'round and kept you busy. Season one takes you all over the map and then brings you back around full-circle at the end, with great actors--both (then) current and (then) up-and-coming greats--great plots, themes, you name it. It was anything but linear and predictable, which is a concept Hollywood has lost entirely nowadays in this age of pathetic remakes. Before it began slipping and succumbing slowly to its own pressure of trend-setting trendiness, Vice had some great moments and plotlines. And the music was terrific, too: artists were lined up, nearly fighting one another, to have their work showcased on Vice. And the joy of hooking up our RCA TV through the Marantz and through the SounDesign floor speakers to blare out the theme and the music was a testament to the Vice sound all over the neighborhood! Season One is the pinnacle of the series' greatness. If you grew up on Vice, I needn't remind you of key episodes or moments; simply buy the DVD collection, relive and enjoy. I sure did!Read full review
Season 1 is set of three double-sided disks. There were a few corrupt tracks on side b of one of the disks. The fact is even if I asked the seller for my money back, Its tough to say whether or not its a manufacturing defect. Miami Vice is a great show, although it might leave you feeling old and wishing you were back in high school if that was the era of your youth. Some guest appearances by actors before they were movie and tv stars: evan handler; giancarlo esposito; william russ: if you watch tv or are a movie buff, you know these actors. Some great scenery of miami from the 80s. I live in south florida: to a large degree, not much has changed. In one episode, they mention the renovation of the art deco district in south beach, so that was apparently already started, before the Vice crews arrived. Do a Google search for the hotel "Blue Waters." You will see a 1960/1960 era advertisement for this hotel. By 1985, it was an abandoned builiding, used in a Vice episode. FYI: Before edward james olmos, the lieutenant on Vice was played by Gregory Sierra. A friend of mine told me Sierra's first TV show was Barney Miller. Actually Sierra had a recurring role on Sandford and Son three to five years prior to Barney Miller. Rent Miami Vice. you'll like it. good drama. good character development. Michael Mann really put heart and soul into those characters. DOn johnson played it great. Don johnson might have had problems with the bottle, but hes got more character on and off the screen than people give him credit.Read full review
