This assembly is intended to be used as a dipole, and it functions very, very well for that purpose. It took maybe 20 minutes to set up, mount on a tripod and adjust for SWL. At 6' off the ground on a speaker tripod, I am getting 1:1.5 SWL (fantastic) and am getting contacts up to 1,600 miles away. I bought this antenna system for semi-permanent/portable use, because my HOA doesn't allow towers or antennas and because I want a simple setup for remote use. This meets all of those requirements. Very simple to take down and put back up, no adjustments needed once you get it set (just adjust length of whips with an Alan key, included). I highly recommend this for any ham operator for portable, temporary or even permanent use.

The product arrived in good packaging and that has been the only good aspect of the dipoles. The set screws holding the whip portion in the coil are very sloppy and difficult to adjust. One of them is stripped on arrival. I have a pretty good set up for my radios and was planning to use this dipole for portable operation. I have struggled with the set screws and have not been able to resonate the antenna no matter what length of whip is used (I did not extend the whips into the coil). The SWR is always infinite! I even set up each dipole separately as a vertical with no success. I tried different support poles and also separated the parts of the center connector and reassembled it, looking for a ground-type fault. All to no avail. Other reviewers have had luck with this product, but mine is looking to be defective. I will try one more time, but the product is about to be returned.Read full review

Ya I think this item is a 5 star item as it is well made and is a quality made item - Very well made and was easy for me to tune for a low SWR reading - Is not a full size antenna but that is what i needed for use in my Condo and so i am happy in all ways !

Given the limitations of a shortened 40 meter dipole, this is a great price for a convenient dipole. Certainly not at all the same as horizontal half wave dipole at 70 feet, this can work for those that need to use a compromise antenna. Running barefoot you can make contacts. Gigaparts ships for free and was very prompt.

Works great and fits into the small space that I have available to me. SWR is a little high, however, is manageable with a good tuner! I was able to get it tuned downed to 1.5-1 without a tuner @ 7.200 MHz. Product is built very well, no problems with set up, would make a great portable antenna.
