As expected from Marantz, this CD Player succeeds to deliver. Priced right for the quality put in. I have had lower priced players before and they were OK. But this one puts in the punch and has a digital medium sounding natural and well-rounded the way a human ear expects to hear music. The USB input is a nice add. I cannot select music off of a menu from a USB stick, but hey, it IS a CD Player! And it plays CD's really well!

I bought this on a whim because I needed a single disc player and wanted USB stick input. This does both very well and has coaxial output and optical output too. Now et me say first I am an electrical engineer and have 50 years experience with audio components. I also play French horn in an orchestra so I know music and I can hear. $500 for this is really over the top but I can afford it so I went for it. So here are my comments. The unit is very nicely designed and probably well worth $100. I thought it would either come with no cables or some really spiffy cables to support the hype of the unit. Well it comes with some $1 cables like you would get with a $100 unit. Not real impressive. They work just fine because wire is wire but after all the BS from Monster Cable I thought it might carry over into a $500 player. Nope. The remote control works well and looks like you could launch a Saturn with it. You only need about 5 buttons and they are there amongst the other 50 you don't need. Really folks, If you want an expensive player then this is it. It works but so will a $150 Yamaha 5 CD changer with USB input. Theysound the same! The sample rate is the same and the parts layout is not critical in the audio spectrum like they make out. Yes you have to use a little sense but $400 worth is pretty far out. Overall I like the unit but don't fall for the hype. You won't hear it in a side by side comparison with a Yamaha or even a Sony for that matter. Pays your money and pick your choice.Read full review

I was looking for a simple way of listening to my cd's through my headphones. I didn't want speakers or amplifiers. I also was hopeful of an extremely good and meaningful experience over the "do it all" desk top unit I was using. The first time I listened to the CD6006 I though,t " oh that's nice." but in reality I was a little disappointed in the sound. The Marantz owners manual doesn't explain the adjustments very well. After reading a little more about it on the internet I discovered there is an internal "Gain" adjustment specifically to match the power requirements of your individual headphones. The default setting is "Low". Through the remote control I changed to "Medium"and the results were much better. I then Set the Gain adjustment to "High" and WOW! I'm using AKG open headphones. I got exactly the moving experience I was hopeful of. I can feel the music. I couldn't be happier. For my needs this player eceeds all I was hoping to do with it. Great productRead full review

I initially bought a Yamaha CD player with USB, even though the sound quality was great, the unit was deffective and the playing format was limited to MP3 and Factory CD's. I saw this unit from Marantz with very good reviews and even though it was more expensive I decided to give it a try and I am very satisfied with sound quality, the built and the ability to play FLAC Lossless format from my USB stick. Well built CD By Marantz, I really recommend it.
