I bought this tripod to use with a Pacemaker Speed Graphic 4x5" camera. A lot of the reviews I read were for Digital SLRs and so on - nothing as heavy or as awkward as what I'm using. The last tripod I had was an old Slik that I'd purchased at a photography market and finally the pan-tilt head bit the dust and snapped right at one of the adjustment points. So, I started looking for a replacement. This works perfectly - adjustments are easy to make but firm when set, it can more than handle the weight of the camera and it's not too heavy for lugging around. A Carbon fiber tripod wouldnt make any sense when the camera I'm using is already needlessly heavy. For backpacking you'd pick a lighter camera and maybe invest in carbon fiber if you want to save that half a kilo. But, I have a car. It hasn't bothered me. The only thing I would change is adding a geared head like the 401, just because I got to play with my friend's and her Horseman not long after I bought this and instantly loved the fine adjustments. That's a want, not a need, however. This is a sound investment for your 4x5" kit, and excellent value for money in my eyes.Read full review
Great tripod for DSLR and Pro Camcorder under 10lbs. Very light tripod but would recommend sand bag below the head to balance weight for heavy cameras. The head is very user friendly, large plate secure the camera well, 3 bubble levels are well positioned. It's worth the investment.
Great item at a great price. Very sturdy construction.
