Features Actors Voices:Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, Jada Pinkett Smith, David Schwimmer, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac,Sherrie Shepherd & Alec Baldwin Running Time:89 Min. Rating:PG After being stranded on the tiny, titular African island, our four heroes -- egomaniacal lion Alex (Ben Stiller), hypochondriac giraffe Melmen (David Schwimmer), smart alecky zebra Marty (Chris Rock), and lovelorn hippo Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith) -- are finally headed home. On a junk airplane refurbished by those pesky penguins, self-proclaimed King Julien (Sacha Baron Cohen), along with his right-hand advisor Maurice (Cedric the Entertainer) will take the quartet back to New York. Of course, things don't go as planned, and everyone ends up in the middle of a wildlife preserve in Africa. There, Alex meets up with his dad Zuba(Bernie Mac), mom (Sherrie Shepherd), and conniving Uncle Makunga (Alec Baldwin). Makunga (Alec Baldwin), however, sees the reunion of father and son as a means to banish both from the group, making him the new king. Marty, meanwhile, is having identity issues as a member of the zebra pack, and Gloria is unimpressed with the male hippos. Melman becomes the giraffes’ new witch doctor, but is told he has two days to live during his first day on the job. When the fun-loving feline fails at the tribe's right of passage, however, it's clear these big city critters need to get back to Manhattan, and fast. People around me know that I am not a great fan of sequels; on account of it often falling short of the original. In this case it seems that it has done a lot better than the first. The improvements were noticeable and I'm quite sure a lot of you will enjoy. 4/5 There are trilogies that I have purchase only the ones I enjoyed (i.e. God Father I & II only and Hell boy II). This is going to be on my purchase list of leaving the original and buying the sequel. Yes folks, it's that much better..
Great movie had my family laughing. We loved it

I was really excited about seeing the sequel to Madagascar, because I really loved the first, and this looked just as good, and in my opinion it almost was. Both of them are excellent films and this just made me appreciate the first more. When it started up I was immediately sucked in, and I never became uninterested and it never stopped entertaining, because they did an excellent job at keeping your attention. There were some parts in the movie where I felt as if they tried too hard to please the audience and then others it got a little dumb and boring, but overall I laughed I almost cried and when it was over I wanted to watch it again. It's a great sequel to a great movie and I enjoyed watching it as much as the first.
