I would probably have about 8 of these Sounders now, both in steam sound and diesel sound, these decoders are easy to wire in to the power source of the locos. There is also a range of diesel and steam engine sounds and whistles and bells. I like these because should the Sounder fail, the motor decoder will still keep the locos running, whereas if you fit a full blown sound decoder and this fails, that is a large outlay in the purchase price. I would like to say that the Sounder doesn't take too well to track shorts, this seems to upset the electronics of the decoder and most times a reset will fix the problem. Would I buy more of these ?, I sure would if I can find them at the right price and the freight from the States is reasonable.

Great decoder. Has very good sound quality, and is easy to install. MRC has come a long way with their sound decoders for diesels.

I must admit at first I was a little skeptical about this tiny decoder small as the speaker; but installed it into a non-powered F7-B unit anyway to try it out. The sound was great, and rivaled the sound I got from the full fledged MRC decoders I installed into other F7 units. So, yes, it is quite a good deal. I would recommend it to anyone on the edge about these sound units. They are especially great where space is a premium. Another plus is the cost is low, so very cost effective to piggyback onto a non-sound decoder without having to take the original decoder out.
